jpsouzamatos
How to defend myself from attacks? How to attack? Suddenly I receive message that I was attacked by other player. It's not clear in what region of the map it happened and what can I do to prevent this or at least win these battles. I was able to build some buildings but I wasn't able to build a second civic center to expand the territory. How to build many civic centers? badosu
@jpsouzamatos I recommend to watch Valihrants basic economy guide to get started on how to build your economy first. After you have a strong economy you can then learn how to defend/rush or boom. I also recommend watching replays from learn from them. There's also rush defense guide and a lot of 1v1s and tgs played from the player perspective there, you'll learn a lot. Search through his vids, good luck! badosu
Se vc é brazuca tem o canal do Ágora 0ad tbm, não é tão detalhado quanto o valihrant, mas se vc tem dificuldade de entender ele é uma boa alternativa.
jpsouzamatos
One thing that I noticed real quick is that it is need to wall the territory as soon as possible but in the initial phase that it is only palisade, there is only walls in the following phase, palisade have no gates if I circle the territory with palisades how the citizens soldiers will move back-and-forth (I may want to send to work rock and wood outside)? If I wait to wall be available I'll be attacked first! Is there a way to upgrade palisade to wall after? PS: Thanks Centurio for your answer. badosu
If you want to play casually, then feel free to be imaginative with your builds, I'd just say that you'd never build palisades on the early game if you want to play against other players in a competitive fashion. If you are still reluctant to watch the video above, then I feel obligated to share at least borg's tips: Also search the forum, every month or so someone asks the same questions, this should help. jpsouzamatos
I do want to play in a competitive fashion but I want to attack to enemies' territory and want to prevent them to attack mine. I watched the video above about how to build the economy, and the importance of how to build many fields and houses, etc. I asked about palisades because I wanted to prevent attacks from sudden neighbors but as I'm learning people can suggest me better strategies. Silier
hi, you need to build longer segment of palisade and after clicking on one already build, you can upgrade it to gate attacked entities blink by white color on the minimap but that can be easily overlooked or hard to spot also you need to reach phase II to be able to construct another cc. no there is no way to upgrade palisades to walls
jpsouzamatos
Something that really pissed me off is that the palisade gates don't close automatically to foreigners, and they appear very early even if the map is large size. If there is no way to defend the land from earlier attack it's counter-intuitive, how is we supposed to grow without a territorial base? To found new civic centers, we'll need to send people from an earlier place so if there's no way to defend the land from early attacks growth is hindered... If the city of Rome was founded without walls when it was still a village or town, the Roman Empire would never born because it would be killed during its baby phase. If you have a close enemy, try to concentrate men near the border, taking resources nearby with men, for example a woodline. You will have both vision and men to defend on that position. You can also build an outpost (dont forget to upgrade vision technology for outposts). If you are playing a team game, take vision technology from market earlier. Palisades and stone walls have their place in the game, but it depends on the circumstance. For example a few palisades can help close a gap in your base and avoid your farms being harassed by cav, especially melee cav. You can also wall off using other structures, like houses, you will gain more benefit from this approach since you can both protect women by garrisoning them and save build time by investing in structures you would have to build anyway. See the rush defense guide from valihrant. Palisades most utility comes from delaying a siege push from opponent at phase 3 or forcing opponent through a chokepoint. At the early game you can't really spend resources or build time with palisades, with the exceptions I mentioned before. That's why it's important to learn how to build economy and defend efficiently. At the early game the better structures to expand territory are barracks and houses (for some cases, like taking berries or woodline). After you reach about 100 population you should be able to phase 2 safely, which will bring more territory. You will still have enough resources in your territory to keep building your economy, it's mostly wood and food at this stage. You can then choose to either make a new civic center or go to phase 3. Going to phase 3 is almost always better, with some exceptions like a mineral intensive civilization or a particular strategy dependent on map control. Remember your objective is to kill your opponents, not necessarily expand to the whole map (though that might be necessary to achieve the goal)
jpsouzamatos
Thank you very much for the answers. I clicked in save and quit the game but I didn't find how to open saved games, in most games you can open saved games. How to open saved games? Excuse-me for the newbie questions. jpsouzamatos
https://ibb.co/4J51Bhs At this time I found my opponent before he find me. Which are the best type of rush against his type of civilization? I'm playing as the Seleucid.
