NorwegianSalmon
If it only changes attack, the weak and cheap counterparts will always be preferable. There are other important stats, such as hitpoints and armor, which seem to remain unaffected in your proposal.
Thorfinn the Shallow Minded
While the idea may be good, you do not give reasons to back up your thoughts. Why have Athenian cavalry expensive and powerful, for instance, and Cretan Archers cheap and powerful for instance?
Prodigal Son
It won't work this way. Some minor cost/effectiveness imbalance could work as faction bonuses/debonuses, to add historical flavor when applicable, but certainly not on this scale. For example 10% cheaper (than their balanced cost) elephants for the Mauryans, 15% stronger champion cavalry for the Macedonians, or 20% faster trained swordmen for the Romans could work. Something simular is already in game if I'm not mistaken, for example spearmen of the same cost having slightly different stats for different factions.
newcivs
we put cmall tecnologies that repair the bonus/unbonusexample: diadochi holipites reduce 40% cost "training inclued" "that put more attack on milita thureos but reduces 15 health"reduce time for roman melee infantry trainingreduce cost of celtic calvary "that put even weaker infantry"reduce cost of persian calvary "put sparabara even weaker"for spartans "millitary reforms" give a stronger calvary and pelthasts and iincrease by another 25% train time for spearmen" "the agoge needs huge cost & time"mauryans "35% reduced cost for elephants25% cost for infantry22% cost for calvary
