Josh
What animations can ships have?Using animations, is it possible to have sails open as a ship begins to move and have the sails close as the ship finishes it's movement?Basically is there an 'end movement' animation cue? If not is it possible to be added? Thanks in advance!(sorry if this isn't the right place to post this)
Zaggy1024
Nope (without making ugly code in UnitAI.js, at least).(Another reason to make a new animation system, but that's probably not gonna happen)
Gen.Kenobi
Maybe, if we get wind simulation, we could get cloth simulation and make everything quite dynamic. And yes, I'm a dreamer.

zoot
I think cloth simulation is relatively processor intensive - probably better to do hand-made animations that work well on high and low-end systems than something that only works on high-end systems. Shield Bearer
We should have start and end cue for animations, this would not only benefit ships, but cavalry as well

wraitii
Given the state of the animation system, an overhaul might not be a too bad thing... From what I understand, it's basically making a ton of stuff originally wanted impossible.(Then again, this goes toward pushing the release date further away. We need an update on what we want)
historic_bruno
I agree that we probably want a better/new animation system. If you look at GameplayFeatureStatus, "dynamic ship animations" is listed as a desired feature. As far as I know, that requires more precise control of animations. It's not a small task, but doable. Gate animations would also be simplified and improved.
