blablahead Posted July 17, 2009 Report Share Posted July 17, 2009 (edited) I was browsing through the internet and came across an article on Wikipedia about the Guanches, the precolonial population of the Canary Islands. To my surprise, it had a very detailed section about the warfare of this little known people. Inspired by DimitriRUS saying he wanted to put less known civilizations into his mod, I came up with the "Forgotten" Peoples mod. (Forgotten meaning not as well known as they could be)So far, I want to include the Guanches and the Maoris, both of which I have found plenty of information on. I think three civs would be more than enough, so if any one has any ideas for a third, that would be great. I was thinking something Sub-Saharan African maybe? I dunno...Anyways, this was kind of just a bizarre flash of creativity and inspiration that I had. blablahead Posted July 18, 2009 Author Report Share Posted July 18, 2009 Some military ideas for the Maori:-The Maori are interesting for using no ranged weapons until the musket arrived with European settlers. -Very good at using defencive fortifications.Some unit ideas:Tao: Basic Maori warrior, armed with spear.Taiaha: Maori infantry armed with a long staff.Maripi: Highly feared warrior armed with a short club with a toothed edge.Pu: Musket armed Maori warrior.Waka: Huge canoe full of warriors.Buildings:Whare-tu-taua: Trains soldiers. blablahead Posted July 18, 2009 Author Report Share Posted July 18, 2009 It was just sort of a whim I had, so I don't really expect this to go that far, but I was thinking on focusing on people that don't get a lot of attention in games.
