Apomonomenos
It just hit me.Will the sun be in the same position or will it be able to rise and fall?Plus, I heard in another topic that Hoplites are strong in Phalanxes, but not in singular. So how will they be trained?

MrEmjeR
it would be cool if there day and night.and that the night has specific prefences, like less LOS or slower moving.hoplites are only strong in phalanx cuz they have heavy shields and long spears, so thay have not much agility. if they fight alone a light infantry can kill hem easy.Way u always say Bumpy if u post a topic
feneur
Well, for normal game play the sun will stay in the same position, it is possible to move the sun though, so in Scenarios it can be moved to make the scene a day/night/sunset/sunrise scene. MrEmjeR
it would be cooler if in an random map there also is day and night.and you don't see the sun itself in the game, normaly. Edited June 27, 2008 by EmjeR

MrEmjeR
I think like the way you want, cuz units learn by experiencesrry i didn't know, just thought u say it always
Justinian
I think it would be good to see stack training.Think AoE3, where you don't train one after the other, but rather in stacks of between one and five.
Apomonomenos
Or when you play as Russia, in groups of more (I don't know how much), so I think that will be the way people will have to train soldiers.PS:W00t! 300th post! Kimball
I think an option allowing a pre-built day/night cycle would be great for random map play. Maybe it also has effects on unit visibility, but of course that would require some extra parameters to be added to unit definitions, which means more work and a slightly longer wait for release. MrEmjeR
maybe it's something for a patch? cuz there is not so much impact on the game strategy mainly the layout of it, so the game wouldn't realy change with this patch.
MrBlack103
Weather's something that IMO simply MUST be included in random maps.
Aeros
We want weather to be an option you can choose, yes.

Apomonomenos
Yea, and if a player choses not to have weather in a multiplayer, then it would affect all the players.
MrBlack103
if a player choses not to have weather in a multiplayer, then it would affect all the players.Well, duh.It should also be one of those settings only the host decides.EDIT: Or what if players get to vote on the settings of the game, and if it's a tie, then the host chooses or it's randomized? Mythos_Ruler
Sorry to burst anyone's bubble, but I envision that weather will have no impact on gameplay, other than to add ambiance.
Justinian
I'm sure it will be open for modding, just like terrain effects (think Dawn of War, and the craters in that).
Apomonomenos
So what about day and night?
MythicRuler
Someone said something about stack training and I hope not. I like having to build more buildings to get more soldiers.

Justinian
It's what makes a fort! Actually the FORT-ifications are what makes a fort. Technically you don't have to have... anything in a fort, you just need to have walls surrounding it.I am really against abolishing the stack train thingy, personally I find having ten barracks four archery ranges the most tedious and micro intensive thing ever.
