Well, I think it would take time for the units to switch their formation, 5 seconds or so and they would physically move themselves in position. That way people will be at a disadvantage if they decide to switch their formation in the middle of a battle, it'll prevent people from using formations the wrong way.

I was on a modem for 3 years until I got DSL this summer
it's so sad, because I now get impatient waiting 6 minutes downloading a 60MB file.
My DSL is fast too, 170KB/s
By the way, Verizon DSL is $30 a month, it's what I use, you might want to get it DSL is the best.

Classical eh? Look for a group called "Angels of Venice" I think you'll like them
I do. Instrumentals are a fine thing to relax to.

I think America's culture is slowly rotting away.
Every year pop singers where less and less clothes, and everything gets "Sexed up"
It's not even remotely arrousing or attention-getting now, just obviously cheap.
Also, Since Eminem, everyone is listening to rap music.
I hate rap, it's not even music, just people yelling about, drugs, "pimpin it up" and "mah honeys" into a microphone while a cheap looping beat goes on in the background.
Bah, there I go again, culture these days Whatever happened to Logic and Reason.
As for the future, I really don't know. Democracy doesn't seem to be the bestest of ideas anymore, capitalists have lost their marbles (think california). If America ceases to be, the whole world will be effected. Things like Computers, Air travel, the Internet, and Cars will become rare. There are other places that make and use those things, but since everything is a Global Economy everything else will diminish as well.
Then I bet someone tries to seize power somewhere and causes all sorts of badness
I think the number one rule for anything would be unity. This applies to virtually everything in the world. But things like pointless wars (War on Iraq for example) and terrorism are causing serious problems with unity. Furthermore all sorts of other countries have mixed, fealings, or even antagonist fealings towards America, not realizing what would happen if there was no America.
Seriously, I find it hard to believe that some people (especially ones in America) are stupider than a 16 year old.

Fluke - Atom Bomb
(Like I said, I've got musc on 24/7)

The most extreme one is when Johnny and "crew" went into a restaurant and ordered a vegetarian dish. Then when the waiter left they put a... a poo.... in the dish
Johnny caled over the guy and said "Excuse me, but I ordered a vegetarian dish, aparently there is a sausage in it"
Classic
The other things they do on Jackass, are rather... stupid Though amusing none the less. I like the pranks more.
Right now on MTV they've split up Jackass into 2 different shows, they premiere in a few days, both of them just as extreme as Jackass

It's things like these that make you wonder just how bad the world can get. Aparently, it's even worse than you thought.

The Extended DVDs are awesome theres like 17 hours worth of commentary, you'd actually find out some pretty interesting stuff if you listen to the commentaries.
@ Klaas New Line probably wants some more of that "Supa ExtreMe Roxx0r" marketting to young teenagers, thats probably the only reason Legolas did his shield-sliding-down-the-stairs-into-an-orc thing in TTT

Dirty Vegas - All or Nothing
This thread's a good idea, I've got music blarring almost 24/7

Wow, this idea could totally make 0 AD an even more awesome game
Thats amazing, it'll actually make formations important, which is historically acurate too.
Excelent idea, have some points

But sometimes I think back about the golden 60s, when technology still hadn't troubled our minds so much. Actually I wish I could live then, enjoy more the essential things in life instead of things that are just so superficial in reality
Ever been to Bulgaria? It's a very rural place, and very pretty too with the Balkan Mountains running through half the country. Bulgaria has got quite a nice culture, it's very family-oriented, virtually everyone in the neighborhood knows each other, and the main points of society are having a good time (which uh, translates into getting very drunk) and humor. Technology is edging on there a bit, but people don't spend more than 1 hour on a computer, let alone if they have one. It's a blessing and a curse at the same time. meh.
Let’s see, how do I manage my time:
Well, I get up, shower, breakfast, go to school, come back at 4:00
(School ends 2:45 actually, I spend the time between school ending and going home with friends),
4:00-5:00 (sometimes 6:00) I relax a bit then start on homework.
6:00-8:00, I'm on the computer simultaneously doing homework (typing papers up), my HG duties, go through forums, maybe start on something.
8:00-9:00 I find something to work on, check news.... things like that.
9:00-10:00 Relax, play a game or something, chat with someone, then turn off the computer.
10:00-11:00 Finish up homework (I am most productive and think clearest at night, that’s just who I am)
11:00-11:30 read a book to relax again
11:30-6:30 Sleep, good old sleep, and something that I can't quite get enough of , repeat cycle
Lately, I haven't been gaming much. In fact I think in 2 weeks I've only played 1 hours worth of video games. Bleh, my youth is spent
So here is my advice, Tim.
I hate to say it, but don't go on the computer after you wake up when you get up, 6:00-7:00AM (9:00-10:00PM my time) is the only time we get to talk to each other live, besides on weekends. However you'll have to give that up, don't go on the computer in the morning because then at school you'll be distracted because you're thinking about the stuff you couldn't get to in the morning, or be wondering what people are saying in one of your threads, or something.
When you get back, start on your homework first, if you'd like, put on some very loud music to distract you from the things you want to do (that’s what I do) If you've got a lot of homework, leave it for later on (if you're a night person like me, which I'm sure you are ) Then do your computer stuff. If you have a lot of things to do (like me) then do them at the same time, multitasking is a very nice skill to have. Just for an example, as I'm typing this I'm also making a news post at AOMH, downloading things, telling Kumar Shah some HTML, and also browsing other forums. Thank god (or rather the MS programmers) for the Alt+tab hotkey
Music is a wonderful thing. I always have it on if I can, it really helps you work and keeps your mind on what you're doing.
Another thing: Make sure you're always relaxing. When I do my homework as soon as I get home I'm relaxing from school, when I do my computer stuff I'm relaxing from homework, when I'm gaming or doing something like that I'm relaxing from my computer work. When I'm finishing up my homework at night I'm relaxing in general, when I'm reading a book I'm relaxing from the homework I just did... If you're not relaxed, you'll become very stressed and irritable So always relax.
About schedules:
Try to make some, for example Tuesday is my AOM scenario downloading day, I look for a scenario to spotlight for Wednesday's Download Spotlight. Thursday I collect material for the Scenario Design Library, Friday I finish up any changes to The Library and also look for interesting community happenings, then I post my Community Weekly Summary which summarizes all of that. Now that's just my schedule for AOMH
And one last thing: Try to do your most serious work (studying, scripting etc) on the weekends, that way you won't be overwhelmed during the week.
Yet another last thing: Avoid making long posts like these that take up 30 minutes of your time.

Highlands, especially the one in AOK with the bodies of water and rivers
2nd to that is probably Arabia (or Savannah in AOM)

Very good forums, theres one thing I want though.
Make a gaming forum I need somewhere to vent off my excitement for Half Life 2

Wijitmaker wins the cookie on this one

I found out about them from the Rome at War promos at AOKH 2 years ago

I think either Currency or Points works, if it's points, then we can simply explain to people that whoever has the most points..."wins"
It'll save many paragraphs of explanations.
Denarii or Sestertii would be cool but not really fit with TLAYes that's an awesome idea, but it doesn't fit with TLA. Middle Earth doesn't exactly have a currency though.
-
So, naturally, whoever has the most points...."wins"?
-
I found the movie very impressive actually True the animation wasn't the best but we don't exactly have motion-capture suits and equipment availible to us The only part I didn't like was the slightly cheesy barbarian, the music gets fast paced and you expect some huge unimaginable battle, but all you get is a villager that runs into this barabarian's sword

I'm related to Alexander Levski's.... cousin He was a great military leader in Bulgaria and liberated Bulgaria from Turkey a couple hundred years back.
My family lineage goes back to the Eastern Romans I think (all pure-blood Bulgarians have very dark hair, not black, just very dark, and pure blood Bulgarians come from the eastern roman empire area), infact the "Ognyan" in Ognyanov means Of Fire or Fire-wrought in some very old language. If you're wondering why alot of people from eastern europe have "ov" or "ski" at the end of their name, it means they're "of the ____ family" People in Poland use "ski" more I think.

Yes, well I thought the word nursery would claw at people
Either way I don't see how this birthrate thing could be a fun thing in a fast paced RTS game.
-
You're testing it when it's released in *looks at watch* 3 hours?
-
I personally don't like the idea. It'll be too distracting, people in the middle of battles will have to go back to their town to task their new villager populus.
But heres an idea that makes this concept better:
How about after you create a certain building (nursery maybe? Well you think of a better name then ), it'll spawn villagers based on the amount of male/female villagers you have. To add depth the building has small children or teenagers animated around it. The building would have similar functions as the capital, you can task the villagers that spawn from there to a resource and like someone else said, you can set a max of spawned villagers
This will decrease micro-ing and will give players the decision if they want villagers to spawn or not, because if they're in a tight spot in battle they wouldn't like it if extra villagers are taking up their population limit. Also by tasking the units they won't have to worry about having to go back and forth to asign the new villagers a task to do.
Furthermore I think there should be a set limit to how many villagers you can spawn. This could play well historically with laws of overpopulation that some empires had (or should've had), so lets say you can spawn a maximum of ## villagers based on the amount of houses or buildings or villagers (or some other variable) that you have
