Maybe one day we could add a relief mapping material for some sweet-looking terrain features. This scene has a triangle count of 2:
I thought it was water! If we could get that kind of effect for the the seas/oceans then it would rock!
-
I guess I must warn you, I've added a few verts around the shoulder joints. I can return it back to its original state if needed though
EDIT: Can we move discussion here?
-
It indeed was a compliment Great ambitions, I hope you succeed
@Shield Bearer The ancient medical text of ayurveda - chakra samhita(search wikipedia) was writern in mauryan period. It highlighted the medical properties of tulsi plant and how it was used....
I dont exactly know when the practice of planting it in the courtyard started, but I do know that it was being used in high quntities during the maurya period.
Maybe, for the sake of conveniance, people started planting it in their homes, and therefore worshipped it because of its medical qualities...
Ah, that is quite interesting. So I guess it wouldn't hurt to have the courtyards of our houses adorned with them, will it? With a nice looking shrine too

Sure, hereya go

Hmmm...If custom bone shapes have been used in Max, then I think the bones in Blender match perfectly to them. Here's an image:
We can apply the custom shapes to our bones in Blender using the geometry provided by you
However, when I tried exporting it and loading it in Atlas, it said the skeleton file is not recognizable :/ Maybe someone with more experience can check it out?
EDIT: If needed I can commit my files.

@Sankrant: You seem to know a lot about Indian culture, can you tell us if the the practice of planting the tulsi in front of one's house was present during the Mauryan period?
-
I believe so
@Jason: Yeah, we might need some new animations in the future and improve some we already have. The attack animations are fine, they look great, its mainly the walk and gather/loaded animations that need to be improved.

yup, shield bearer...
Brahmins can only fight when situation i trivial, somthing like-
1. No more healing aura is left
2. Health is very low
3. Death of a hero
4. Distruction of more than 2 buildings in single attack
These are themselves small things.
I am looking for a class called yoddha, appearing :bare chested and a dhoti, one or two handed short scimitar, low hit points, and very high attack rate. If possible, can be the substitute of kshatriya.
Kshatria is not a unit but a clan which fights war as said earlier.
You mean when the situation calls for it? So they wouldn't fight usually, only if there is great need?
Yes, we heard you I think the Yoddha will be an interesting unit. Why don't we make the chariot a generic unit and the Yoddha the champion? I don't think it should replace the Swordsman though, we just need another name for the swordsman
-
Are you sure we should be naming these guys:
- Generic Name: Indian Swordsman.
- Specific Name: Kshatriyas.
- Class: Swordsman.
- Class: Swordsman.
Kshatriyas? Kshatriyas is the warrior caste, if I'm not mistaken so any warrior should be named a Kshatriya. We'll need another name for this I think.
The mauryan army was the largest and arguably the most powerfull army in the ancient world...
I would recommend another class of special units called yoddha. An armourless sword martial artist available in the last city age. He would have been weak with low hitpoints, but the attack points should be high.
I would also add up to siege elephant, customized for siege only.
I would also like to force the fact that Indian Brahmins could also fight, in trivial situations.
Thats a good idea, they could be trained from the fortress or something.
Okay, so your saying that the Brahmin Priest should have an attack?
- Generic Name: Indian Swordsman.
-
If you guys can handle the units, I think I shall do the building descriptions Already got some basic things listed down.
-
What I meant was that it hasn't been implemented yet. It might not be hard, just haven't looked at it. (Could potentially be as simple as some sprite settings.)
Ah, that's what I though
Hey, another thing. Where do you get the texture for the border around the build icons? Think you can change that to match the portrait icon? Also, do you think u can add a black border around the unit health bar(which hovers above the unit, not in the panel)?
-
I like the sound of this We can include some screenshots of the latest buildings and show some interesting videos of units marching to war, ships sailing, a town under siege etc.
Here's somethings we might want to use:
Mathijjs' Persian Merchant Timelapse.
Six year old animation showcase video. Maybe something we can improve upon?
And here's a showcase of all the ships I made for 0 A.D. We can use whatever we want from here, if you think its useful.
-
What do you mean? If you hover on the icon, it would enlarge and become lighter, if you press it, it would shrink and become darker
-
Or no background at all

Might I say the new GUI looks superb Great job Brian
-
The GUI is using bars from the final GUI design, which are different to those used for the unit health bars. They're supposed to have a 1 pixel black line around them, but that hasn't been added yet. Also I think the bars have been stretched a bit - the final design shows them to be 7 pixels in height with the 1 pixel stroke all around. The ones on the svn now are 8 pixels height.
Oh, I thought I copied those only I made these for the GUI, not the units and it does have a 1px stroke around it These just don't look like the ones in the GUI mockup
-
That is, really superb! I tried doing some rocks sometime ago, but it was harder than I thought Good stuff. Do you think it would be good to have some shrubs growing from the crevices?
-
It seems you used something else for the health stat bars in the panel. The ones I made are used by the units, as you can see in the picture Is it possible to add a cap at each end? So that the borders are defined nicely?
-
How hard do you think it would be to fix this?
-
How feasible do you think adding falling trunks would be? And making the tree wobble when being chopped?
-
Hahahahaha! Man, you are too cool! Did you say you could do this for cloth too? Amazing stuff! Keep it up bro
-
If we're really going for animated trees, I think we should do what myconid suggested. I think that's how its done in Anno 1404 too.
-
Units will be able to charge in the future Its a planned feature, so don't worry

It seems that the bones have been scaled down, but if you zoom in they still look like the other bones Everything seems to work though. Pureon, can you check it out?
