  1. When I was younger, I was swinging on a tree-branch by my hands (it was a smooth branch), and I slipped since it was damp. It would have been fine since it was only about 1 foot to the ground, but there happened to be a large plastic bucket (50 pound capacity ) that I smacked my wrist into and fractured it. OUCH! I had to have a cast for 3 months or so. Another incident was when I was riding around in the street (it's a cul-de-sac so it's circular, you can ride in a circle around) and my sister and I were trying to race each other.. I went too fast and forgot to brake and found myself going very fast towards the curb and our neighbor's cactus garden I just shut my eyes and braced for the crash! Somehow the bike hit the curb and flew up while I landed right between two huge cactus spikes.. did I mention the bottom of the garden was limestone? After opening my eyes and realizing I wasn't dead, I got up and didn't even have scratches (go figure )!
  2. Are you sure User.ini is the file? Because that just is the keybinds, AFAIK I installed the patch, so I don't have an old copy of the Saves folder.
  3. I'm having worse problems Quacker If I am able to log in, it says I haven't even completed Basic training!! I sure hope it's a bug and it will be fixed so I don't have to go through all the training again I was a Airborne Sniper Medic (passed all the training and exams)
  4. Multiplayer-only, unless you count the soldier training, which are missions (i.e. get through the obstacle course, hit the targets with rifle). You can't play against bots, at least not yet.
  5. Quacker's right... one reason AA is about the only FPS I play is because it is realistic. None of this "press fire to respawn NOW!" I know alot of people like the other types of shooters, but I love this one
  6. Yes, it's a realistic shooter game based on real-life Army experiences.
  7. Yahoooo! America's Army 2.0 (including Special Forces) was just released today!! The new features list is enormous! (so is the file size ) I've been waiting for this for a while Patch (223MB): http://www.3dgamers.com/dl/games/americasa...0to200.exe.html Full Install (651MB): http://www.3dgamers.com/dl/games/americasa...ops200.exe.html I'm downloading now using BitTorrent (the link available on 3DGamers)
  8. I recognize a member primarily by their avatar. Of course, I notice the username, but the avatar is "associated" with a particular member in my mind. What about everyone else?
  9. Yeah Looked terrible by the trailers, etc. The EA Games "Battle for Middle-Earth" RTS game looks mucho better
  10. Looking great Wijit Question: when the official 0 A.D. site is done, will the forum and website login/registration systems be integrated?
  11. Yeah, you can't really judge a game based on an incomplete hacked-together copy. I haven't been following HL2 much (not really into shooter games like that) but I know that it is highly anticipated, and will most likely be close to the expectations.
  12. Age of Mythology Demo Age of Mythology is the latest game from Ensemble Studios, but (AFAIK) not officially part of the Age of Empires series, since it is not a real history game. I was sort of disappointed with Age of Mythology, since mythology isn't really "my thing". But other than that, the game was very well done, and is very popular. I don't have the game itself, but I did play the demo version for a while. I am basing my review off the demo. Breakdown Animation [Good] I was impressed by the unit animation here. It looked very smooth and "clean" to me. The great graphics engine doesn't hurt either! Civilizations [Good] Even though I don't like mythology (at least this type of mythology), I have to admit that the civilizations in Age of Myth were great. In my previous reviews, I have talked about civilizations being too general and not "unique" enough. Age of Myth is a great example of keeping civs super-unique. Granted, there are only three civs, but each one has a unique art set, sounds, units, powers, and so on. Editor [N/A] I haven't been able to take a look at the Age of Myth editor, but other people seem pleased with it. Gameplay [Good] The Age of Myth gameplay is very fast-paced and quite fun. With each civilization being so unique, it's hard NOT to have fun playing! Graphics [Good] Ensemble's transition from a 2D sprite engine to a full-blown 3D engine appears to have gone well. Everything is very colorful and lively, especially the particle effects! Interface [Good] The in-game GUI is very clean, and user-friendly. Even small additions like the control group flags at the top can really help novices and experts alike. Multiplayer [N/A] I didn't play multiplayer in the demo, but it appears to be quite fun, with many new strategies always evolving. Music [Good] Age of Mythology's in-game music was superb. Before I uninstalled the demo, I copied all the tracks so I could listen to them once in a while! I do have one gripe here though, and that is the opening music. It didn't seem as theme-based as the great Age of Kings theme. It seemed more "chaotic" to me. I'm sure other people liked it, though. Pathfinding [Good] Nothing bad to say here! Even with all the crazy flying, jumping and exploding myth units, the pathfinding AI was quite stellar. Single-player [Good] The skirmish AI was good and could give you a "run for your money". The few campaign scenarios included in the demo were nicely done as well. Sound Effects [Good] You have to give the guys at Ensemble Credit; it's not easy making up sounds for creatures that don't exist! The sound quality was sharp and clear, and the various sounds they found for the myth units seemed to fit the unit perfectly. Timeframe [N/A] Being a mythology game, Age of Myth didn't really have a "timeframe". Lessons Learned What it means for 0 A.D. Good music, pretty graphics and fun gameplay are a few of the parts that make a best-seller. Music-wise, 0 A.D. is covered: hats off to our talented musicians who are putting a tremendous amount of effort into creating music for this game! The great graphics in Age of Mythology prove that you don't need high-poly, memory-hogging models and textures to make a game look amazing. The models in Age of Myth were relatively low poly, yet still looked great even when zoomed in a bit. Age of Myth's fun gameplay comes from the unique civilizations, in my opinion. With each civilization being so specialized, various strategies pop up very quickly. Besides, the game is easier to balance when there aren't as many civs! Overall, Age of Mythology was a successful game, and Ensemble Studios did a great job to make it as good as it was. Now, if only they'd make an Age of Empires III... Next Up: Star Wars Galactic Battlegrounds
  13. Empire Earth: The Art of Conquest Expansion This review is going to be a little different. There will be no Breakdown, as I only looked at the demo version of this game. Art of Conquest is the expansion pack to Empire Earth. To put it bluntly, it is terrible, even for an expansion pack. The demo was even worse since it was more like a beta preview than an actual demo version, with many unfixed bugs and unfinished modules. Lessons Learned I suppose a very good point here is to make sure every public-release version of a game is fixed up enough to please the general public. As a programmer, I didn't really mind the "unfinished" or "beta" state of the demo version, since I understood the time involved in fixing bugs and finishing up art assets, and I knew (well, hoped) they would fix it up when the game officially went "Gold". But, your average "Joe Gamer" will most likely judge a whole game based on an alpha or beta version, and that is terribly bad for a game's reputation. The other lesson learned from this game is to make an expansion pack worth buying. Art of Conquest added a new "Epoch", a few new units/buildings, and a new campaign or two. In my opinion, this should have been a patch, not an expansion! (Feel free to disagree with me, however) Next Up: Age of Mythology Demo
  14. I know this sounds crazy, but I find the "MSN Messenger:" field in the Profile settings to be too small. The address I was trying to put in: codeoptimist@trutheliteforce.com Is 2 characters above the limit I believe
  15. I absolutely love the Empires: DMW demo. I don't have the full game, but from the gameplay in the demo, it is definetly the best RTS out right now, and probably the true successor to AoK.
  16. LOL you have my respect akya.. it's nice to see someone who isn't part of the "stereotype" and has their head on straight
  17. Ok, I'll vote for network then. I like 99% of how it is now, except for the confusing parts (mark all posts as read and personal messenger).
  18. Thanks everyone I'm honored to be a part of WFG and help keep the community alive.
  19. I haven't commented on this topic since I *know* it will be a long post At the moment, I am undecided.. haven't voted yet. I find the current setup a little confusing, since technically all 4 WFG forums (WFG, 0AD, TLA, IS) are all under one "forum", so things like Mark All Topics As Read and the Personal Messenger apply to the whole "network". That kind of makes it confusing I think that choice #1 would mean that everything would be too seperated, yet choice #2 would mean everything is too compacted I'm not familiar with the InvisionBB software, are there any other "options" or anything?
  20. Why are you "bawling" Wijit? *confused* It doesn't snow here in Texas much
  21. I don't necessarily celebrate Halloween, but I went to a nice Fall Festival tonight (didn't wear a cosume though ).. won a cake in the cakewalk
  22. I did it sometime in the past, but I can't remember what my score was I'll do it again sometime.
