  1. Yes I meant group, thanks for the check.

    Caucasoids,

    Negroids,

    Mongoloids,

    and Australian Aborigines

Homosexoids are not in that list.  You can't use that black freedom arguement.

No i think that you misunderstood me:

those groups are not a scientific reality as a genetical entity, but as a social one.

I.E. it's partly because we want to see them as different that we decide that there are those distinctions. The differences are mostly based on historical separation of one group from another: if those groups are let to mix, those differences would exist no more in the way we see them (as instance: you could see a blonde black woman, or a black eyed norvegian with a lot of black curled hairs). The phenotype has no meaning in what we are, or who we are.

The point is that since those groups are a cultural creation used to discriminate other people that apparently differ from the majority of us (just like homosexuals), it is quite correct to compare the black people rights with homosexuals ones. It's a matter of sensibility.

Usually who differ from us scares us. What exactly scares you of the homosexuals?

  2. P.S.Beware that the term "race" has no scientific meaning, but i'm sure you intended it as "group"

I completely agree with you on this.

I find it quite annoying to see people calling different nationalities "races"....there is only one race and that is the Human race....which is the whole reason for equality among nationalities :band:

At least on this we do agree... :drunk:

  3. Blacks are a race, homo's are people that live a lifestyle.  The two are different.  But, if you don't see the difference, homosexuality is a lifestyle, whereas being black is only being a human being; they aren't renowned for some great sin, unlike afforementioned curved people.

The problem here is that there is no reason for a State to consider someone a sinner only because someone considers him so, even if it is written in the Bible, in Al-Quran or other sacred texts.

Every religious community is free to consider them sinners, and to deal with them as thei wish (regarding religious matters).

Forbidding to a group of peoples civil marriage is something that involves civil rights, not religious ones. A religious group would be allowed to cry out in rage if a State (in the sense of government) obliged them to accept same-sex marriages, but since this is not the case i do not see any reason for all this turmoil.

  4. The problem is that a minority is trying to impose their agenda on the rest of us. Why should the majority of America be forced to accept a type of lifestyle we don't approve of?

The same reason that the majority of Americans were forced to accept blacks as equals.

Well said, this is one clue that should make us think to homofobia as a probable form of "racism".

  5. As a sidenote: many priests are homosexuals (as stated by Klaas), others think that gays do not make sin. Someone said that those people aren't true christians, but who decides this? The Pope? And for non-catholics?

    God decides.

Agreed, but who tells you which is god decision? Are you shure that god would condemn them? I wouldn't be sure in your place.

  6. I've had a big job finishing reading all of this.

The question that arose to my mind is the following.

If a christian cannot agree with homosexuality, why cannot he simply stay away from it (if he's not homosexual, of course)? Does he need to see every other do the same things he does? And would this be real freedom?

As a sidenote: many priests are homosexuals (as stated by Klaas), others think that gays do not make sin. Someone said that those people aren't true christians, but who decides this? The Pope? And for non-catholics?

I think that everyone is free to believe in whatever he prefers, provided, imho, that he realizes that philosophies and religions are a product of humanity and history and that forcing others to go against their nature (as long as they do not hurt other people, of course) is not a choice.

Just another note about "sodomy that hurts".

Don't you know that sexuologists have long ago stated that sodomy can give even a higher pleasure than "straight" sex (especially for men)?

So, no reason to compare murder and sodomy "because they both hurt", since one hurts, wether the other don't.

    My 2 cents

  7. Hey, it will happen the day after my birthday! I can celebrate all night!

    Back on topic now.

I think that if only we stopped to use private transports in favour of public ones, we could get a substantial improvement on the climate, best of all if those transports are powered by a low emission technology.

  8. you never know for sure :P

    who is old-man willow anyway?

Maybe he is a kind of black huorn or so.

But why would Eru allow the Ents to die out? I mean Yavanna asked him (indirectly) for guardians for her forests (and other growing things). And I see no reason why they don't have to be protected anymore.

    Excellent point, chap!

I'm with Mithrandil when he says:

"...Strange things are happening in the shire ... and (some hobbit  ) has seen a walking (some tree)" "Walking (some tree) he must have been drunk..."

    Or something like that

And Merry and Peppin promised to tell treebeard if they saw an entwife, so there's a small chance that they did

Moreover, Treebeard says that a land as the Shire would have appeled a lot to the Entwives, who cared more for the well cared land and for gardens and orchards then for forests and wilderness plants. It seems that the shire would fit very well...

  9. What is the "rythmn" method ?

Basically using awareness of the woman's natural menstrual cycle as a form of contraception.

Better known as Ogino-Kanus method (from the doctor who discovered it).

It so "reliable" that in Italy there is a popular jest wich says:

    "We are all Ogino's sons"

  10. Wouldn't the developers just make one for every system? (except ofcourse those very old systems, like Windows 3.11)

Well, i think this will depend on how many human resources will be avaible and how much time will be at programmers disposal... ... but i'm almost sure that i've read something like "we want to make a game resident on as many platforms as possible, if our resources proove to be enough". Maybe adam can confirm this.

  11. @Klaas

    I'm talking about Italy.

Please, note that i'm an ethusiastic supporter of welfare state and that i think we share the same point of view on welfare. Mine was only a statement that people usually are so dumb that they want to count the pennies in their pockets, without thinking of what they get for free... (...er, i wanted to say: in exchange for their taxes). It's a psichological trap in wich many people fall: if it's not in my pocket, it's not mine, i don't own it so i don't care for it...

    ...very sad.
