  1. One formation that would be useful is a concave battle line, to counteract a wedge formation. Is this something that can work? This is related to a pincer movement. " The maneuver was probably first used at the Battle of Marathon in 490 BC. The historian Herodotus describes how the Athenian general Miltiades deployed his forces of 10,000 Athenian and 900 Plataean hoplites in a U formation, with the wings manned much deeper than the center." "Hannibal executed this maneuver at the Battle of Cannae in 216 BC. This is viewed by military historians as one of the greatest battlefield maneuvers in history, and is cited as the first successful use of the pincer movement to have been recorded in detail, by the Greek historian Polybius." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pincer_movement
  2. oops... It looks like the "open" formation already resembles this fairly closely...carry on.
  3. I am not sure about the limitations of the game engine or if it will work, but I have always wanted to be able to have an open formation. I tried to mod this into Rome II total war but it doesn't seem to be possible, with modding tools at least. The top part of picture is an open formation.
  4. Here is another depiction with some information...
  5. It doesn't seem to be an error the way they are depicted? "The works of Kalidasa mentions 'Kurpasika' a form of tight fitting breast band that simply covered the breasts. It was also sometimes referred to as 'Uttarasanga' or 'Stanapatta'" Different areas seem to have different customs... "In South India and especially in Kerala, women from most communities wore only the sari and exposed the upper part of the body till the middle of the 20th century."
  6. Language is a complex thing. I can use a word that comes from "tail" in Latin and that the pencil is named after. But If I use the word I get in trouble...
  7. In the U.S.A you don't have to be clothed, as long as there is paint covering important parts. So as long as there isn't detail I don't see a problem. Aren't pixels just like paint anyway?
  8. The swastika not tilted or put on a red/white background is not the same thing as a Nazi symbol i.m.o. There was a Nazi ceremony that mirrors a Catholic ceremony that mirrors an ancient Pagan ceremony to the sun god... edit: National Geographic has boobies.
  9. These guys have told me they like my vocals. They are kind of dark punk/new wave and used to work with Ultravox in the studio.
  10. There is other resolutions of picture on Wikipedia link on first post. Are you asking if it is copyrighted? the picture itself maybe... but not the design. edit: Copyrights generally are only an issue if you are making money from it. (the picture itself.)

  12. The Galatians were still speaking the Galatian language (Gaulish) in the time of St. Jerome (347–420 AD), who wrote that the Galatians of Ancyra and the Treveri of Trier (in what is now the German Rhineland) spoke the same language (Comentarii in Epistolam ad Galatos, 2.3, composed c. 387).
  13. I think the Belgae are considered Gauls. Unless they migrate to Britain as many have for instance...
  14. Mostly they would be labeled accordingly to scenario I think. That sounds cool. Balance is good.
  15. only by time period I think... I mean at at least one point in timeline of game (I think?) They would essentially be the same.
  16. For instance a Gaul is going to be less "Roman", if he is never made a province by them...
  17. Couldn't we make it so your culture can choose to adopt or not to other cultures?
  18. They used war chariots in Gaul also. They just abandoned it by the time Caesar was around.
  19. I agree there were "major civ. difference between the Celts and the Germans". But Caesar mentions very specifically that Gauls had moved into the most fertile parts of Germany and and began to dress like and eat the same food as Germans. So it is more a geographical location. You are correct Germans had no druids and were more "uncivilized".
  20. I was playing Field of Glory and I noticed we are missing a major Celtic faction, the Galatians. Celtic State existed 280–64 BC. Roman province Galatia. The Galatians were in their origin a part of the great Celtic migration which invaded Macedon, led by Brennus. The original Celts who settled in Galatia came through Thrace under the leadership of Leotarios and Leonnorios c. 270 BC. These Celts consisted of three tribes, the Tectosages, the Trocmii, and the Tolistobogii. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Galatia

  22. Book seems very rare, I had no luck so far in finding a digital copy. I looked to purchase book but they are asking $60-200.
