Oh that's awesome! Thanks a lot man, i really appreciate it! I'm not even sure the texture will even survive the export from SU without splitting into different files. I'll clean the models up the best as I can and put them in their respective threads, I'll start texturing after the models are done and pruned, unless you or someone else wants to take it from there.Hey LordGood, If you haven't time to texture them, feel free to post the buildings you've already finished and I'll texture them.
By the way, your defense tower is already in-game. Update SVN and take a look

I would go for promoting individual buildings for more aesthetic control, but I'm sure there is an artist's bias here. The casual gamer might not want to bother. We can get to that after we get the models done, if we have the labor and time.
@Gen.Kenobi I have learned to navigate and build SketchUp fairly quickly over the years, Though messy at first I can clean them on export. I figure this is much more efficient than starting the learning curve on a much more complex program all over again. Blender is quite an oddball as far as the user interface goes, I've stumbled through it enough to figure that out.

what about being able to research additions and upgrades to existing structures in the later phases? Maybe upgrading a house would raise it's health and population bonus, as well as look more upper class. This way we can have more realistic looking poor and rich districts and add to the city building capabilities of the game. I'm all for making temples and civ centers look grander.

With all due respect, why call it ignorance when it obviously has nothing to do with ignorance? Do you honestly think that either of us are more familiar with Germany's history than Germans are themselves?
He means the international ignorance of the difference between the nazi swastika and the south asian one, not Germany's ignorance.

Just stopped in to let you know how far my jaw dropped when I saw this screenshot. Keep up the amazing work!
Thanks!
That reminds me, I still have no idea what the lengths of the wall segments are supposed to be, this might not work in game just yet

blarg, it's not textured and i didn't rescale it, but I cleaned it up as best i could. stupa stupa Mauryan stupa.zip

This shouldn't desensitize the Nazi svastika, but taking it out would reinforce the idea that all svastikas are bad, which isn't what we want. This is clearly an Indian symbol. Historically accurate game almost two thousand years before the rise of the Nazi party, and its negative connotation. Anyone saying otherwise is just looking for an argument.
Im sure Germany is pretty anal about violent video games, but banning a game for its historical accuracy would just be silly.
Also, boobies
three, four polygons apiece? Nothing worth banning, really. Any kid who doesnt already know what a bare chested woman looks like won't recognize. The unit models are quite small.

perhaps you guys should open up a swastika/nude thread. Not sure they quite fit in here xp
That's a great job on the UVs Enrique, Though I'm not sure about the amount of stone you put into the balcony and roof, though it does provide necessary contrast, it seems a tad unstable and historically wonky.
I've also found out that stretched textures in SU export as different files, so there isn't much I can do in that respect. I'll do my best to clean up the models and leave them in their respective threads in .obj and .dae once they're largely accepted by the community.

That does look nice! eight sides should be enough to represent a cylinder though (it all depends on scale of course), and the reference photo has engaged squarish columns from the looks of it. That would probably save even more polys

Lord Good, how're you going?
It's going to be a little while, the semester is winding down and I don't have much free time to work.
The shackles will be off in a few weeks though, then I'll be able to get back up to speed~
-
I'll see what I can do
-
I barely know how to navigate in blender
-
ehehe eeh
whoops
sorry about that
3D has the mtl now and defensive tower has the skp
-
aaah alrighty, I cant promise that the textures will come out looking peachy
My blender is outdated too 3D Media.zip
-
I can't fix it that way , could you please be more specific?
If you import in blender, select everything, then proceed to move the whole thing. everything will go back to where it should be. don't complete the move command but escape out of it, and everything should go back to their original coordinates and scale
-
That happens to me too
Just give it a little shake and everything goes back to where it should be
Ctrl A move, then escape
I do have blender, and that always happens with my dae files
Making it one mesh will greatly increase the polygon count
-
awesome, thanks
this is the tower Mauryan Defensive Tower.zip roof is still seamed

How do I attach a file to a message? I've been rolling the images off of my Deviantart

Hmm... Most of all Blacksmiths from games have this squareish shape. What about we give the celts a rounded one, just to make it stand out, like their CC and their fortress?
we'd need a square one for the Gauls still though, and a round one for the Britons

just ignore the floating macaroni, those are supports I can use instead of the columns if you want

What are those things off to the side? They look like fat muffins
Fat muffin silos! I could probably put an opening somewhere haha

I have yet to import the elephant and make necessary changes around it, here are the curved supports and doors, I also hollowed out the inside a bit more. this configuration doesnt seem to look as strong to me as the previous (not regarding the thinner walls), but I'm open to suggestions.
