@Gudo : Congratulations for your search ! That is very helpful and well sourced. I appreciate a lot the details of your comment.
@LordGood : The last version is very good. I would open the windows, and I would try to make columns with varying levels shape like on this ref photo.
So more like this?
It really hikes up the polygon count, but it was pretty light beforehand anyway, this should be alright

The Mirror towers of Syracuse made short work of my navy in AOE, but i loved them. I'd love to have them again!Archimides Mirror or mirro Tower in AoE series

This very large image of what remains at the site has some period pillars in the middle. They're square, not round. Assuming Mytho's picture is an acurite map, I beleive that those pillars belong to the structure you modled, due to the shape of the foundation and the proximity to the Great Stupa.
Most images I've seen of the site have square pillars. Here's another of the same pillars. Here is the remains of one of the smaller structures in Mythos' picture. Note the shadow of pillars across the foreground. There is some ornamental carving, but the top and bottoms of the pillars are still square.
[EDIT]The images I've been linking to are images of ASI Monument Number N-MP-220, Temple 18. Here is yet another shot of those pillars. They don't have the double pillars on the front of the structure, but neither does the structure in Mytho's image.
Hmm.... According to this link says that Temple 18 was built on the foundations of an earlier Mauryan temple. But this one says that Temple 18 dates to the second century BCE. So it's the right place, it just might not be the right pillars. >_> I still believe the pillars should be square though.[/EDIT]
Thanks a lot for the sources, square pillars also help the poly count
How's this?

Got a better view, fixed

Do we have more reference images for the building in the first rendition?
-
The polygon count would fly through the roof if I tried that, I assume a similar looking texture should suffice. In the end they should look like the railings on the reliefsOne thing though Lord.
You should make the railings more like this.

@lordgood What program do you use to do the UV mapping in? Or do you have Sketchup Pro?
I don't have UV mapping, I usually just manually apply textures to fit
-
Probably just looks fancy to me, because it looks so crisp.
It'll look a little more rustic once i get in some nice textures
-
darn Lord, they're nice. Dont you think they look a little too fancy though?
Thank you!
Fancy? You mean have too many polys, or roof ornamentation?

Hey LordGood, very nice models!
Those walls are looking very nice!
Are you able to import .DAE game files into your 3D program?
It's the fastest way to make the wall segments in their correct length and size (they should extend "below ground plane").
You can also find the mauryan texture from the game and map the walls.
If you work in blender, I can post you the blend file for the tower/mauryan modules I made. Otherwise, I'll find some time to export all I got into .daes or another format you could use.
The main problem with the mauryans are the detailed "arches" wich can raise the triangle count a lot, that's why I tried to make some modules to keep them low poly and have the same style but with color variety.
Thank you! I work in SketchUp, which can import Collada files. All these models currently extend a fair bit below the 'ground plane'

The gatehouse depicted doesnt really fit the game's art style very well, so I took the liberty of flattening it out a bit.
-
Besides, it might seem kind of odd if the Celtic tribes get stone walls and the Mauryans don't.
-
Im using good ol' SketchUp Ludo, it exports Collada files
They'll have palisades as well will they not? We could just buff those like you did with the romans and keep the wood and stone
-
the walls seem kind of bland, going straight off of historical elements, i was wondering if we could take some... ahem...
artistic liberties?
-
the bottom continues now to adapt to different elevations too, is this better? it was quite pointy before ahaha

Hello all,
I'd like to propose a defensive tower model, it's a little light on polys, and I'll need a texture pack for it to fit in, but I'd like to know what you think, I used the Mauryan reliefs from the other posts as guidance.

What buildings are left to model? Here's a quic tower I threw together today, Is the defensive tower still clear?

Took out a few polygons and pointed the roof a little bit, set the wall back. The columns are engaged in the references though, Ludo
I could stretch the truth a bit, if you prefer
