There is more to The Art of War than its methodology on military strategy and tactics. I consider it to be superior to Machiavelli and Clausewitz. The total warfare methodology championed by Clausewitz has been proved time and time again to be inferior to Sun Tzu's methodology. The Far East still has things to teach the Western World.

I have been thinking that I could probably handle something like random map scripting with my programming skills, only time will tell.

I wish I was qualify to be a C++/JavaScript developer, because I only know C# and Java, and have limited experience with JavaScript. I really should start learing C++ soon, since game development is what I want to do, but I am extremely busy trying to wrap up my Bachelor of Science in Computer Information Systems from DeVry University.

Excellent map, it looks very promising.

Pureon's suggestion worked, excellent!
-
Thanks, I will try those things soon.

I recently installed Alpha 10 on a Windows 7 laptop to see how well it would run, and the mouse cursor disappears in fullscreen, but still works if you can figure out where it is pointing. I know this is also a problem with some other games and Windows 7 too. I mentioned this in the GUI thread, but it seems to have been overlooked.

Why does the mouse cursor disappear in fullscreen on at least some Windows 7 machines? I know this is also a problem with some other games and Windows 7 too. I recently installed Alpha 10 on a Windows 7 laptop to see how well it would run, and other than the above mentioned disappearing mouse cursor it works great.

I am pretty sure more animals are planned, and animals reacting to units is a nice touch.
The food supplies is nice idea, quite similar to the Stronghold series by Firefly Studios, but Wildfire Games won't do it, because 0 A.D. isn't a sim, its about ancient warfare.

Thank you for the welcomes! I've managed to get my buddies on TS3 and play a few multiplayer games. I've managed to play a 1 vs 1 vs 1 game.
Have to say, I hate Persians when other people are playing them. Romans and Carthaginians didnt work for me against them. Maybe I'll have to try Athens next.
Try taking advantage of siege camps and walls (a strategy called investment, most prominently employed during the Battle of Alesia) with the Romans.
Try fielding a force of elephants supported by citizen-soldiers with the Carthaginians.
-
Its also a great nod to Rome at War.

What do thing battering rams are for? Just because battering rams have a bonus against gates doesn't mean they can't deal with a fortress in numbers supported by an army.
-
Then we also need Oracle temple add-on to Civic Centre and science cart to detect them.
Excellent, now all we need is a missile tower to round out the detectors.
-
Garrisoned fortresses that take advantage of overlaping firing arcs are a powerful definsive tool. When the AI is finally able to use siege engines more effectively, it won't be the advantage it is now, because a supporting army and/or navy is still important, even when gates are finally redone to complete the new wall system.

darn i hope 0ad isn't the kind of game where APM is the main key too winning, im not really good at multi-tasking on strategy games so i'd be screwed if it is. Hope you can find a way around this.
My suggestion is that all factions scout horse you start with at the beginning of each game be equipped with a ranged weapon so he can go hunt effectively because the melee scout horse you start with is useless for hunting because it can't seem to get a successful hit on fleeing animals. It would be good if there was a new hunting unit that takes a cart out and goes off killing wildlife and bringing back 200 food at a time.
The problem with that is not every civilization had ranged cavalry.

That APM video is just Korean pro gamers showing off. I agree with Mythos Ruler, there is no need for 0 A.D. to worry about APM.
-
Looks great, quantumstate, and I agree about tabs, they aren't needed.

The new UI mock up looks like a very promising start to a redesign.
An unfurling banner for the menu sounds like a great idea.
Techs need to be researched at buildings, but a full tech tree window is a welcome additon.
Looks great. That map looks huge, what map is it? or is it something for the campaign
Its the Peloponese, the pennisula where the Hellenic city-states are located, and its a scenario that's actually already in the game.

What about the music not working after a match ends?
-
It's on the planned features list, I suppose we will have it
Ah, just like Firefly Studios's Stronghold series as well, they were doing buildings snapping together (particularly certain structures like bakeries, breweries, and weapons production buildings to walls) back in 2001.
-
Only the Persians have a stable, all others use the barracks for both infantry and cavalry. The cavalry at the civ center are also hunters.
-
There is a drop down menu called Match Type in the top left corner of the Matches screen set to Scenarios. In Scenarios, the civilzation along with most other settings can't be changed, so switch it to Random. Random, allows a lot of settings to be changed, so it should be more to your liking.
The menu isn't perfect, F10 also opens it.
Technology has just been implement, only citizen-soldiers can build advanced structures like barracks, which require the Town Phase. Players start in the Village Phase.
Citizen-soldiers can be trained at a civ center (town hall), because advanced structures, like barracks, wouldn't be available otherwise. 0 A.D. isn't like most RTS games, such as Age of Empires, which inspired 0 A.D., where there is only one type of worker.
Only the Persians have a stable, all others use the barracks for both infantry and cavalry. The cavalry at the civ center are also hunters.
Waypoint markers would be nice.
There are two types of workers, female citizens and citizen-soldiers (civ center/barracks infantry). Female citizens are better at farming and can only build civilian structures, while citizen-soldiers are better at quarrying and mining, and can build any type of structure, but get worse at civilian duties as they rank up.

These post-processing effects look promising.
Ah, Skyrim, I probably should get that for Xbox 360 at some point.

I have a question: Since we got Athenians, Spartans and Macedonians now, what will happen to the generic Hellenes faction?
As I understand it, the Hellenes faction is no longer selectable for random maps, but are still available in some scenarios.
Edit: Mythos Ruler is way too fast.

This is a little off topic, but I wonder how the bamboo longbow stacks up against the English longbow.
