Shouldn't there be brackets for that last if statement?
-
What about Sef's post on the previous page, a lot of that stuff looked great?
-
Maybe we should change the "Wildfire Games" image to link to Wildfire Games home page and rename "Wildfire Games Home" to "0 A.D. Homepage" and link it back to the game home page?
Sounds like a plan, since the old way of having both the Wildfire Games logo and tab link to the "Wildfire Game Home" was rather redundant.

I really like Sef's walls connecting to fortresses suggestion, and I have an idea for a good way to do it, treat the four corner towers of a fortress like wall towers in the wall system.

The fonts in Mythos Ruler's Maps and Biome Guide aren't working.
-
A minor thing, there no longer seems to be a way to return directly to the 0 A.D. home page.
-
I have seen the schools of fish on land bug that Mythos Ruler mentioned in the Alpha 9 version.
-
You can do this in the SVN version of the game (and of course, the upcoming Alpha 10).
Excellent, Alpha 10 is looking more amazing every day, first a proper wall building system, then a basic implementation of technology, and now small tweaks like that.

This isn't exactly related to walls, but why can't one queue up units from multiple selected unit productions structures of the same type at the same time?

It would help if there was a "Call to arms" button on town center that makes all male citizens currently working to put there fighting gear on and kill any intruders. The women should go to the town center and garrison it. When you click on call to arms when the intruders are killed, Your people go back to work. Its annoying when you have to manually assign them to there jobs and this feature would save a lot of time.
I know the war dogs are not complete yet but here is an idea: when you command the dogs to attack, they will become independent and will not retreat from the battle until the enemies are dead or the dogs are killed. If you win the battle you can control the dogs again. Would add a bit of a realism to the way dogs work because i bet it was hard to handle hounds back in the day lol.
I think cavalry should be able to knock enemies over if they run into them and not just ride up to them and start hitting them. Would give an edge to the cavalry since they are better than foot-soldiers and not to mention would look awesome!
Celt women should be able to become shield maidens if they rank up. This would make the Celts more of the cheap and rushing civ. (maybe an early tech tree upgrade)
Make neutral settlements on the map that you can use your trade caravans on. The neutral settlement requires you to have military units in there boarder to be able to trade with. You have a choice to what you can trade with the settlement.
Idle villagers will help build.
Ability to tell your soldiers to patrol around boarder. Your soldiers have more health when fighting in there own boarder.
When walls are implemented, the ability to build them through your fortress/castle.
Excellent suggestions, especially Celt women becoming shield bearers and walls connecting to fortresses!

General Octavian, have you ever played Stronghold? Its what you have described to a tee, and is a why different game than Age of Empires or 0AD
Indeed, that definitely sounds like Stronghold, one of my favorite game series, excluding Stronghold Crusader Extreme and Stronghold 3 of course.

Ah no gaps I see...cool
So is there a possibility of the archers on the walls thing ? Wow the wall building is really fast....did you change the game speed to high ?
I would imagine walls are building instantly for demonstration purposes only, in fact I am pretty sure vts was making them build instantly with a command menu.

As I understand it, the Theatron is meant to spawn a random unit (not sure about the parameters on what units will spawn) from the other civilizations every 90 seconds, but its not implemented yet.
-
Impressive, most impressive.
-
what is the wall feature ?
A proper wall building system, because right now it is rather difficult to place walls and wall towers effectively, and gates aren't implemented yet.

Based on the comments and what I saw, it looks like the video itself was excellent, but it possessed many of the same mistakes that historical RTS video games have been making for years.

I am not sure what type of player I really am. I like to think I am rather defensive, which would seem to point me toward the Carthaginians with their triple walls and towers supported by mercenaries, cavalry, and trade or the Iberians with their defensive/guerrilla style supported by cavalry, though the Celts with their agricultural and horde-based culture and the Persians with their fast mobilization and cavalry-based military are pretty interesting too. But since I am so fond of the Hellenes with their tough melee-based military and the Romans with their elite yet versatile military, I think they may be more to my liking. Then, it becomes a toss up between the Hellenes and the Romans, because the Hellenes have archers and siege towers, while the Romans have army camps and siege walls. Suffice it to say, even though the Romans are probably be my primary faction, and the Hellenes are a very attractive alternative, I will use any of the factions.

The awesome power of cirumvallation and contravallation, collectively known as investment, at work, which was made famous by Julius Caesar during the Battle of Alesia.

Normally, I hate parodies, but that was so well done, its simply amazing. Great find, Geek377.

and Ides of March is less known?
Indeed, Edetania and Haxāmaniš are the only ones I didn't have prior knowledge of, because I am very familiar with the ancient world.

Party time! Let's see if those Romans can withstand Carthage
I am testing that on Latium, first thing I thought of when I installed Alpha 9.

The Odyssey reminds me of One by Metallica, expanded threefold of course! Accolade II is great too!

A minor thing, in the description, rady should be spelled ready.
-
A minor thing, Pheonician should be spelled Phoenician.
