Hehe, thanks for the interesting info, Philip. The reason I used that resolution for the shot is because it is the highest resolution my graphics card supports on this monitor. No special reason.

Pluto no longer a planet!
Mythos_Ruler replied to King Tutankhamun's topic in Introductions & Off-Topic Discussion
I much prefered the other proposal and am sorely disappointed that they went with this one. I preferred making Pluto and Charon double plutons (since they are sattelites of each other), and Ceres and Xena full fledged planets (since they are large enough to be round and orbit nothing but Sol). -

HAHA, nice! -
Right, it might be more helpful if you told us which concepts.

Excellent man. Have a good trip!

It's a nice shield. The left horseman seems a bit too washed out, but that's probably from where you sourced the design from. I do not believe it's a Spartan Mora design, per this thread here: http://www.romanarmy.com/rat/viewtopic.php...er=asc&start=40 Stefanos in that thread is a veritable Greek shield expert from Greece. lol... We already have close to 80 shield designs in the game for the various cultures. I just want to see what you guys can come up with.
-
Included here a few shield designs we are using in the game. They are in Photoshop (.PSD) format and include about a dozen layers each. I am releasing them because I want to see what you, the community, can do with them. That's right! I want to see what kind of cool shield designs you can do with the files I am releasing to you. Particularly FirePowa8, I'd like to see if you could make a full size Spartan Royal Sunray shield design utilizing these files. If you guys would rather have Paint Shop Pro files, just let me know. Lambda shield 1: http://www.wildfiregames.com/~art/public/Spartan-Shield.psd Lambda shield 2: http://www.wildfiregames.com/~art/public/h...tan_sheilds.psd Gorgon shield: http://www.wildfiregames.com/~art/public/sh_g04.psd Trident shield: http://www.wildfiregames.com/~art/public/sh_g16.psd Seagull shield: http://www.wildfiregames.com/~art/public/sh_g10.psd Pinwheel shield: http://www.wildfiregames.com/~art/public/sh_g09.psd What I'd do is edit the design layers of the images and dont touch the base layers and mask layers unless you're confident in your photoshop skillz. Take this as your chance to shine and show off your work to the community. We might also use the best designs in the final game if they fit the style of the art! If you post a link to your finished PSD here or send it to me over MSN Messenger (MSN: mythgamer@aol.com), I'll player colorize it, convert it to the proper texture format, and plug it into the game and screenshot it for you. Have fun! And don't hesitate to ask questions here.

Welcome to the team Drewie. I've seen your devientart account before. Good stuff. I am also a texturer and concept artist. We'll be working together. Should be fun.

Persians should be a good civilisation to play. We haven't tweaked gameplay yet, but I suspect they'll be a good boomer civ. They have a good array of units, heavily cavalry and archery based, so they should be good for offensive raiding and long-range defense. Round that out with good Super Units, low standard unit cost, and strong buildings, they'll be a formidable civilisation in the world of 0 A.D.

We (well, me and I think CheeZy) plan on releasing a bunch of "extras" with the game as part of the "Design" module of the game. What this would definately include are additional shields and weaponry and suchness. If we end up using the lambda texture as the default Spartiate shield design we will definately include Firepowa's mora designs for him and you guys. Plus, I am formulating an idea that during the campaign the Spartiates will change shield designs as the story and timeline progress. So, basically during the Persian Wars the Spartans will wear the mora designs and during the Peloponnesian Wars they'll wear the lambda design.
-
Sure man. I'd like to see what you can come up with. Of course, if they make it into the game, you'll get credit.
-
For you guys (Spartans with FirePowa8's shields):
-
thanks bud... I'll throw them in the game and see how they look! I'll make an exclusive screenshot for you guys to see how they look.

RON's skirmish mode is cool. Heaps of good ideas. However, their single player Conquer The World campaign is a weakness.
-
RON's conquer the world mode is very similar to RTW, but when you move into a territory you play a game just a like a normal RTS - building, gathering resources, training men. The only change in gameplay above normal RTS is that you start with the army you moved into the territory with. But there's no consolidation, passifying local populations, constructing long term buildings, family members or heroes, etc. No real depth to RON's campaign. Oh also, every X turns the game upgrades to the next age automatically.
-
I hated RON's version of the "conquer the world" campaign. No depth at all. RTW's campaign was badass. Too bad it had no narrative though. I'm sure there'd be a way to add a "storyline" or historical narrative to it.
-
The campaign(s) will be historically based.
-
The game doesn't have Wonders in the traditional sense. We hope to include some unique Wonder-like buildings for the Scenario Editor, but as part of the game we won't use them (except maybe in the campaigns). Although each civilisation does come with 1 or more Unique Structures with special abilities that benefit that culture. Ehh, mercenaries? Maybe Part 2. Not included for 0 A.D. Part 1.
-
Bronze age empires and civilizations are not included in our game. This includes: Babylonians, Egyptians, Sumerians, Hittites, Hebrews, Mycenaeans, Minoans, etc. etc. The Assyrian and Median Empires are left out as well, si ce the game starts at 500 BC.

"kneel with me brother..." "My army of the Felix Legions is 900 men strong... they'll need a port-a-loo a piece.... we can't have 20 soldiers to one shitta!"
