AOE3 certainly has more depth, but I don't see it as a better game for it. Other things like replayability, multiplayer, learning curve, balance between econ and military, etc - AOK has AOE3 beat.

It is my King Philip texture.

He liked AOE2. He was talking about AOM, I believe. His wording was poor.

You'll need more HD space. I can guarantee 0 A.D. will need more than 0.6 gigs for installation.
-
Use Firefox. j/k... we'll work on IE compat.

Well, one thing we don't have dedicated "scout" units anyway. It'll be up to the player to manually scout outside his territory and find resources and the enemy.

Here we have released a screenshot for June. We had initially planned a Showcase release, but have put that off for next time in order to make it a good one. Our maps do represent certain areas of the globe, so it's possible. I don't think we'll have this.

The reason AOE3 looks bad on lower settings is their artwork. With Bloom and HDR and Normal mapping and all those whizbang features the actual artwork (skins, meshes) doesn't need to be that good - the whizbang features make up for it. AOM didn't have whizbang graphical features, so their high quality art was better than AOE3's low quality art. As far as gameplay, I meant it twofold - Of course the possible lag caused by the super graphical features, but also that sometimes graphics get in the way of playing the game. Just my humble opinion.

On the lower settings, AOE3 looks worse than AOM. I think at the higher settings with Bloom and HDR the game looks great but is a pain for gameplay. Gameplay-wise I'd say AOE3 and AOM are on-par.

A select few people (20-30) will get something this year.

Well, that's only a possibility as a post-support patch. Just musings right now.

1.) I don't know what you mean by selecting provinces "from a list like AOK." I hoped someone else would understand and answer for me. hehe 2.) In a skirmish map you are playing the civilisation at its peak. There are no ages. In the campaigns players will play the civs through time.

Ehhh, I prefer a nice Xiphos. -
Hello Mythic. Nice name, and welcome to 0 A.D.'s forums! 1.) Yes, 0 A.D. will be infinitely more moddable than AOM. We have a data driven engine, which means most of the game info does not reside locked up in the engine code, but rather in easy to modify data files in an easily understandable filing system. 2.) Textures will be in standard DDS format. This format is used very widely. You can download the "official" NVidia DDS plugin for Photoshop from their site, or use the proprietary exporter we'll include with the game. Either way, they will be extremely easy to use once you understand what you're doing. 3.) When oh when will the game be released? I have no concrete date. Let's just say 1-2 years is a good guess. Depends on how smoothly the rest of development goes.

1.) provinces aren't like in RTW - there is no world map, per se. A province is a section of the random map you are playing on. Gaining a province (by building a Civic Centre at its center) gives you control of that province. Each game you play will have a minimap in the GUI that represents the entire map. Every time a player claims a province, that province turns that player's color on the minimap so territory is easily understood. 2.) There aren't any different "periods" like ages or anything. You are playing a civilisation from its height (within the time period 500BC-1BC). So, when you play the Greeks, for instance, it is at their height during the Classical Age of the 5th century BC. When you play the Carthaginians you are playing them at their height during Hannibal's campaigns. Each civ in the game represents those civilizations at their pinnacle. 3.) Don't understand this.

One's coming at the beginning of June. It'll be a good one, like the recent Hoplite one, with multiple images, rather than just the single top image (like the Spartan one).

Soda? Coke? Pop?
Mythos_Ruler replied to King Tutankhamun's topic in Introductions & Off-Topic Discussion
Cola makes sense too, but only covers one segment of soda-popdom. -
I bought my mother a $50 gift card to "World Market."

It's always been "pop" around here. I think the "real" name is "Soda-Pop" lol -
The Bruce, of course.
