Simplify and improve x86/amd64 CPU build flags
raymond replied to raymond's topic in Game Development & Technical Discussion
I checked http://feedback.wildfiregames.com/static/cpucaps.html again: SSSE3 is now at 80.2%. Maybe at the end of the development process for A17 you could enable core2duo support as minimum? No intention for you to upgrade to a minimum Core2Duo system? A Core2Duo system (or a cheap Core i3) are really cheap today -
How to update translations in A16 (and newer releases)?
raymond posted a topic in General Discussion
Hello, I want to test the newest translations with the compiled releases (listed on http://play0ad.com/download/) for Windows. How can I manage it? Maybe can anybody write a wiki article? In my case for the German translation. Thanks regards, Raymond -
supporting all suggestions of the author of these thread. another suggestion: 5 maximum workers for these big field are to less. Increase the count (maybe to 7) or make the field a little bit smaller.
-
Performance! Fundraiser for hire programmers only for programming threading (for A17 or A18).

nice idea...I totally agree, too. Maybe as option before the game starts, because: the AI could also help other AIs with sending mercenaries.

Simplify and improve x86/amd64 CPU build flags
raymond replied to raymond's topic in Game Development & Technical Discussion
Good compromise to use pentium-m or pentium4 optimization. Maybe test it for performance advantages against optimization "pentium3". -
regarding ticket #2329 http://trac.wildfiregames.com/ticket/2329 It is better to make core2 flag as default? Why not: "‘core2’ Intel Core 2 CPU with 64-bit extensions, MMX, SSE, SSE2, SSE3 and SSSE3 instruction set support." Maybe "SSE2, SSE3 and SSSE" (in core2) improve the performance? (https://gcc.gnu.org/onlinedocs/gcc-4.9.0/gcc/i386-and-x86-64-Options.html#i386-and-x86-64-Options) Pentium III last produced until 2002. Note: SSE II support: 99 %; SSE III support: 95% (http://feedback.wildfiregames.com/static/cpucaps.html) So increasing the requirements to Core2Duo CPU is not a problem.

Suggestion for better (granular) AI difficulties
raymond replied to raymond's topic in General Discussion
Okay, thanks for your explanation I would post it to trac...okay? -
Hello, the game "Sins of a Solar Empire" supports granular difficulty settings: Besides difficulty level (easy, normal, hard...) it supports the AI behavior for each difficulty level: Aggressor, Fortifier, Reseacher, Economist, Random In 0 A.D. it could be: Aggressor: rush the enemy with 20 units or less groups, build siege weapons, constantly rushing the enemy, build few towers and no walls. Fortifier: build up towers and walls, then train a large army and then rushing the enemy Economist: harvest many resources, before rushing the enemy, build scant military building, no towers, no walls Random: self-explanatory thanks Raymond

Paid development which address "Threading to use more than one CPU core" #1886 would be very, very, very nice.

thanks for the work to all -
The current translations should be in A15? Maybe only languages from => 80% ?

Mauryans: mount archer on "Vachii Gaja (Elephant Archer)"?
raymond replied to raymond's topic in General Discussion
thanks, very cool -
Hello Community, I don't know how it works, may it does not word to mount a archer on "Vachii Gaja (Elephant Archer)", like in this picture http://0ad.wikia.com/wiki/War_Elephant? The button "Garrison" does not work (like to garrison in tower). It should work? http://trac.wildfiregames.com/wiki/Civ%3A_Mauryans ? Can anybody verify it? If it is a bug I will create a bug ticket. regards

Hello I play Carthaginians and I build a Mausoleum (Wonder). In the description "add large tracts of land to your empire"? Also place it on the territory line: only a small tract will be added. It is a very expensive building. Only a very small tract will be added? Add another/more features, like all units in a specific radius work, run and (maybe) fight faster. So it is better to build a civic center? Another thing: With wonders can you add a new game type in victory condition like in Age of Empires: build and protect the wonder for x minutes and you win the game? regards, Raymond

Yes it works now!

Thanks for your reply. No I have an external monitor on the iMac using 1650x1050 resolution. Fix it on local.cfg. Change it from: xres = 1600 yres = 900 to: xres = 0 yres = 0 Why is it not default?

Hello community, I can't press the button: Single Player > Matches > Start Game and Main Menu The same problem on multiplayer games. Is it a known issue? Must I wait for A15 for playing under OS X? regards, Raymond

Some combat enhancement ideas (& suggestions)
raymond replied to Unarmed's topic in General Discussion
Battering rams …if there should be a limit: 6 or 8, otherwise unlimited group bonus … to counter it, it should be not to hard, so only a slightly bonus More phases …selectable while starting a game to create a flat (3) or more complex (5) game Standard should be 4 And of cause: More victory conditions (win: killing all workers; gather 10000 stone; gather 10000 wood; gather 10000 stone; gather 10000 metal; build a world wounder etc.) and in the main menu: game settings (like resolution) -
If players have an advantage/disadvantage it must be in the options while starting a game, not individually for each player.
-
Same like http://www.wildfireg...7&st=0&p=231847 I think weather, in general, would be nice. It should be in options to deactivate it (maybe performance problems if it is always activated). Maybe directly while starting a game.
