increase minimum screen resolution
raymond replied to raymond's topic in Game Development & Technical Discussion
Dynamic realignment of the GUI elements and font style/size would be very nice (many users use a small resolution but there are also many users with a resolution >= 1920x1080). @DanCar: Android devices is not the problem: many (more and more) android devices uses a resolution more than 1024x768. -
increase minimum screen resolution
raymond replied to raymond's topic in Game Development & Technical Discussion
Do you think, that many users play in window mode in this low resolution? I don't think so. Maybe a poll could help?! Or another stat (window/fullscreen mode) on http://feedback.wildfiregames.com/. -

increase minimum screen resolution
raymond posted a topic in Game Development & Technical Discussion
Hello, increase the minimum resolution to 1366x768 or 1280x1024 (currently 1024x768). Why: Some alignment problems with lower resolution in some translations, see http://trac.wildfiregames.com/ticket/2866 Pro: - better translations (long translations possible!) for some languages - more option to design UI - expand summary page - more detailed descriptions possible - easier to program than dynamic realignment of the GUI elements and font style/size Cons: - some users with small resolution could not play the game (I think this is a decreasing group) Links: used screen resolution in 0 A.D.: http://zaynar.co.uk/0ad-pub/resolutions-20140313.html (data from 2013-03-13 - 2014-03-13) worldwide used screen resolutions: https://www.netmarketshare.com/report.aspx?qprid=17 http://www.w3counter.com/globalstats.php -
Upgrade to minimum 12.04 LTS: http://play0ad.com/download/linux/#Ubuntu Or try the PPA repository via terminal.

Yes this is nightmare. Maybe the difficulty level could also vary the amount of military production buildings. I think 2 or 3 human player against 1 nightmare AI would be funny.
-
Could you test it with the latest Alpha 17? Does it work?
-
I also agree. Possible to implement a restart function also for multiplayer?

Suggestion: - sandbox: AI has a gathering rate factor of 0.33, does not trade/barter and does not attack - very easy: AI has a gathering rate factor of 0.33, does not trade/barter and does not rush - easy: AI has a gathering rate factor of 0.66, does not trade/barter and does not rush - medium: AI has a gathering rate factor of 1 - hard: AI has a gathering rate factor of 1.33 - very hard: AI has a gathering rate factor of 1.66 - nightmare: AI has a gathering rate factor of 2 New and changed level in bold.

Where I can find the chart mod? Where are a mod folder on play0ad.com? In Tools & Options > Mod Selection > I can't find any mods. It is possible to load current available mods directly in the game? Could mod creators upload mods to play0ad.com which can be downloaded in Tools & Options > Mod Selection ?

In A17: I played against easy bot (Petra bot) with my friend against two other players: lost. Against one player: win, but it was hard. The AI build civic centers to the enemy and build defence towers on the border of the own and the enemy territory. It is very aggressive and should be only on hard or very hard. The easy AI are also possible to walk around the defence towers, not the direct path from their village. It is possible that easy AI and medium only attack in the direct path, so it is better to defend. Normal, hard and harder AI should able to use indirect paths, so walk around defence towers or fortresses? Only normal, hard and harder AI should build other civic centers. It is possible to lower difficulty in general?

The upgrade cost of the blacksmith are to high. Please lower the upgrade cost. I think 50% - 75% of current cost is enough. Why: I played with a fried against 1 AI. Within one hour playtime (normal speed) we are only able to upgrade two things in the blacksmith. I don't know how it is possible to have enough resources (starting resources: low; enemy AI: easy) within an within a reasonable time.

When is the finished game going to be done?
raymond replied to marc32123's topic in General Discussion
Software development never finished! It could always have: - better/more music - better/more maps - more units and infrastructures - better graphics ... The game is better with every version. Try it out! -
adding new resources (ie water, and Cloth)
raymond replied to FueledByOCHD's topic in Game Modification
A mod with more resources would be nice. Suggestion: mud, leather, gold. I think total of 8 would be nice to play.- 57 replies

Regarding http://trac.wildfiregames.com/changeset/15675 minimum is gcc 4.4. Why using such old gcc (developed from 2009-2012) as minimum? Why not using "gcc -O3" optimization? (https://gcc.gnu.org/onlinedocs/gcc/Optimize-Options.html)

1) [GAMEMODE] Massacre Kill as many units within a specific time (choosable while opening the game). The player with the most killed units wins. Options: 10 minutes, 15 minutes, 20 minutes, 30 minutes, 45 minutes, 60 minutes, 90 minutes, 120 minutes 2) [GAMEMODE] Structure destroyer Destroy all structures of the enemies. 3) [GAMEMODE] Wipe units Kill all units of the enemies. 4) [GAMEMODE] Peace Time (maybe under "More Options" in every victory condition?) http://trac.wildfiregames.com/ticket/2749

Yes would be awesome to have this. Another example: Age of Empires III.

I think 150 pop cap is a good default value when starting a single or multiplayer game.
