  1. How about an aura for some units, like champion cavalry and elephants, that slightly reduces the attack damage or attack rate of nearby enemy units, representing their intimitation? A tech version of it ("elephant bells") could make elephants even more fearsome. A "(Promise of) Afterlife" tech at temple could simularly slightly increase the attack damage or attack rate of organic units. A Faith tech at temple to increase Priest hit points. A Coinage tech could give an amount of metal per ally in game each X seconds. (Would this need triggers to be implemented first?) A Fire Arrows tech to make archers, ships, and structures more effective against structures, ships, siege and war elephants. A "Footwear/Boots/Sandals" tech to increase infantry speed. A Gladius tech to increase Roman Swordmen attack or slightly reduce their attack while increasing their attack rate. A Heavy Horses (Mounts) vs Swift (Fast) Horses tech pair to grant cavalry hit points or speed accordingly. An "Import Elephants" tech that allows factions who occasionally used War Elephants an extra champion unit without breaking balance. See here for more related ideas. An "Imported Construction Techonology" that makes previously weaker Roman Ships/Siege/Structures on par with or slightly better than greek and carthaginian ones. A Linothorax tech that makes hoplites slightly faster and slightly more ressistant to missiles. A "Logistics" tech that makes Roman infantry cost half population. Or reduces their training time. A "Loom" tech that increases female villager hit points. An "Athletic Games" tech that increases citizen soldier (or champion to simulate famous victors?) hit points and/or movement speed. A Marksmanship tech to increase the attack damage or attack rate of archers. A Medicine tech to increase/add hit point regenaration of human units (all minus celts). Will we have regeneration? A "Herbal Lore" tech that increases druid healing (celts) An "Advanced Blacksmithing" tech to increase Celtic melee unit attack on village phase. A "Crossbreeding" tech to increase war dog hit points and/or attack A "Trimarcisia" tech to increase/add hit point regeneration of Gallic Champion Cavalry. All these are a little offering from my Warcraft 3 custom ancient RTS, some are my ideas, some other are copied from games like age of empires and total war, maybe some would fit into 0 A.D. I've got a few extra more that could work for Part II civs.

  2. Yes, LOL. Welcome to the forums and thanks for your suggestions so far Btw, for the icons, I think it's ok, but if you derive something from those icons, you also need to make it available under the same license. I guess attribution is ok when you want to advertise the game.

  3. Instead of capturing enemy soldiers and turn them into slaves, why don't implement it on other ways? My concept of slavery and its consequences: 1. All houses, civic center, temple, barracks, marketplace and fortress have a certain amount of slave value, if a player destroy an enemy's house, civic center, marketplace, temple, barracks and fortress the player's marketplace will have an increase of slave and if the enemy have done the same thing on the player's territory and the enemy's market will have an increase of slave. 2. Slave value for houses, civic center and fortress are fixed, while a marketplace have the ability to generate slave value but with a very slow rate which means player have to conduct slave raid to increase its slave value. 3. There are different slaves for all building who have slave value, for example: houses have only female slaves, civic center have a certain amount of male and female slaves. While the fortress, temple and barracks have male slaves only or a large portion of male slaves. 4. Male slaves was able to build military and civilian structure and with a good gathering rate but a bit expensive, female slave have a cheap value but only able to build civilian structure and they have an average gathering rate on wood, metal and stone. 5. Slaves are property but still it was treated like population, 1 slave requires half of an average population regardless if they are male or female. 6. Slaves are prone to rumor, bribe and sedition which makes them very dangerous to human player and computer, player or computer player could exploit such weakness to win a war. 7. A rebellious slave have the ability to persuade his or her own kind to join the rebellion. 8. The ability to persuade could turn a group of enemy slaves into player's unit instantaneously this able a rebellion to spread like wildfire.

  4. The primary suggestion I make does not consist of that many difficulties. Allow me to elaborate. For the Romans, the Marian reforms would only require one unit, which exists in game. Obviously a previous one could be introduced if possible, but even that is unnecessary. The Spartan reforms would be quite simple I should think. The Perioikoi could possibly become hoplite peltast hybrids at some point while the Spartiate would change from a hoplite to a pikeman. (Another unit which exists.) The Athenian reform would be similarly simple. (The champions are post-reform so they could be unlocked or upgraded upon research while peltasts require only a few changes which are not that hard. (consider the possibility of using Macedonian skirmisher assets)) The Macedonians would be pretty easy to do also since it requires simply using assets of the generic Hellenes. That leaves it to the Ptolemies and the Seleucids, and I am having a difficult time envisioning much anything for them other than Romanization as Sighvatr mentioned.

  5. If Romans get their reforms, then I would like to see romanized infantry for the Ptolemies, Mythos.

  6. I am not actually opposed at all to the idea of introducing reforms to the Romans in game. It would introduce an intriguing aspect to the game which could overlap over to other nations. To that extent then, the Macedonians could commence the game with hoplites and then alter them to pikemen, the Spartans could perhaps do the same later, the Athenians could have a similar mechanic with upgrading their peltasts to ridiculously powerful javelin/hoplite hybrids. Even the Persians could have a technology for changing their infantry to a hoplite form.
