bad player Posted March 26, 2022 Report Share Posted March 26, 2022 (edited) Pretty sure Powered by Invision Community that invision power board forum engine already has shoutbox built in its overall experience is way more modern than irc not only that but this way u have shoutbox and forum on one page, dont need 2 tabs what was the reason that irc was chosen over shoutbox? I don't know for sure, but I'd say it didn't exist when this forum was created, nor when we were using the previous software. hyperion Posted March 26, 2022 Report Share Posted March 26, 2022 Unlike a community plugin that appears to haven't been updated in like 5 years IRC is reliable, doesn't eat resources and does only what it's supposed to do, so just like email it will likely outlive all cool and trendy alternatives.
