Cannot move or gather resources using MACBook Pro (Intel) Ctrl-Click doesn't work

I have been trying to order units to move or gather resources however they are not able to. I can select a unit and press and hold the control key down. I see the cursor change from a pointer to a spear tip, but when I press down on the touchpad it doesn't move. I try to move units to gather resources, I see the point change to the resource that is being gathered, I press the Control key and press down on the touchpad and it doesn't move.

 

I am using a MacBook Pro (Intel) macOS Monterey Version 12.2.1

Does right-clicking with two fingers work?
