Romulus
I hope this doesn't become a trend. This is a big no no for me. What happened to the menu that let's you choose the number of players in the game? Why is there now a default number to map types. ... sanderd17
We have an extra map type now: skirmish maps. Those are designed by hand. So the starting positions (hence the number of players) is fixed. We still have all random maps as before, which are computer generated, and can have 1 to 8 players. Romulus
CoolI may have missed it. But the new maps are very nice... Most of them need to be included in the skirmish maps in the next alpha
hollth
It is somewhat odd that they are the default map type imo
Lion.Kanzen
It is somewhat odd that they are the default map type imo why?-And other, the match preferences can be must saved, even AoK (v HD does) saved the preferences.
Prodigal Son
They are the most balanced and best looking (together with the scenarios, but the later have less host options), so I like them as the first option. Random maps might have more choices, but until texture blending and map generation are improved, they won't look that great (on balance I'm not sure which of them are intended to be unbalanced and which are not). So it's better for the game to promote it's currently best maps.Btw, are the generic Hellenes and Celts updated/rebalanced in line with the main factions? I thought they wouldn't be so I'm skipping the scenarios including them so far.
hollth
That makes sense. I was wondering if there might be some reason why random wasn't the first. In hindsight I suppose there is the argument that a smaller number of static maps is better for new players too. Having the settings save like LionKanzen suggested would probably be the best way to go then, although id imagine thats a long long way down the track if its ever done
Lion.Kanzen
The problem with scenarios is the lag.

Zeta1127
The Celts and the Hellenes should work well enough, with the Celts actually having their chose between the Britons or Gauls at City Phase mechanic that was originally planned.
