Bandsman Posted Monday at 04:51 Report Share Posted Monday at 04:51 Hello, On an Arch-based Linux installation (CachyOS) with KDE Plasma, when starting 0 A.D., the game won't open a window - a "task" appears on the panel, audio is played and can be heard, but it is not possible to make the window active and play the game. Also, since I want to add the game to Lutris as native, and it asks for an executable/working directory, where would the game normally be installed to? If there is anything else to consider when adding to Lutris, or if there are instructions anywhere, I would appreciate being pointed to them. Thanks. Stan` Posted Monday at 15:19 Report Share Posted Monday at 15:19 @hyperion @vladislavbelov Hey can you share more info about your hardware ? Depends on how you installed the game. https://gitea.wildfiregames.com/0ad/0ad/wiki/GameDataPaths
hyperion Posted Monday at 16:38 Report Share Posted Monday at 16:38 Definitely need sdl version and kde / plasma version, also are you using multiple monitors? You could try the AppImage at https://releases.wildfiregames.com/rc/ , if it runs would be a strong indicator where to look further into the issue. The AppImage should also be easy to add to Lutris. Bandsman Posted Monday at 19:18 Author Report Share Posted Monday at 19:18 Thanks for the replies. Quote Hey can you share more info about your hardware ? If still necessary after what will be written below, please let me know what info you need exactly. Quote Depends on how you installed the game. https://gitea.wildfiregames.com/0ad/0ad/wiki/GameDataPaths Paru from repository (version a27.1-5.1, by the way), it says in the link that "Most data created during the game (such as replays, screenshots, and savegames) is stored in ~/.local/share/0ad/", however there are simply 3 empty folders there currently, namely mods, saves and screenshots, no idea where the executable file should be placed. Quote Definitely need sdl version and kde / plasma version, also are you using multiple monitors? KDE Plasma version 6.5.3, sdl, if this is what is asked for: And no, no multiple monitors. Quote Looks to be https://gitlab.archlinux.org/archlinux/packaging/packages/0ad/-/issues/3 This seems to about describe it, and I am on Wayland, so I need to change Rendered backend from OpenGL to Vulkan? Silly as may be, how would I do that? Do I still need X11, because if so, I think I need to install it additionally? Thanks.

Bandsman
Quote You could run the game with -conf=rendererbackend:vulkan Thanks, that seems to do it. For the sake of completeness, by the way, running from terminal by just "0ad" also seems to work, but not the Plasma launcher link, for some reason. So then, where to look for the executable file - is it the one I see in usr/bin, or another?
Stan`
If you saved the config in the option menu it might be using vulkan now which would explain it. If not maybe the desktop file is messing up with 0 A.D. but that'd be strange, could be a KDE plasma bug might be nice to report it upstream. Does the command which 0ad point to something else ? The underlying executable is called "pyrogenesis"
