"Package 0ad is not available" Kubuntu 24.04

Hi. Software migrations rarely go off without a glitch or two (dozen).
I did the basic diligence with 20 minutes sniffing around the various points of 0ad's migration path, looking for a signal that folks were on this issue, but my sense is it might not be on radar right now.

I'm running Kubuntu 24.04 just now, and installing the game, as posted instructions instruct, isn't working at basic user levels. First, synaptic is only showing two data packages, and installing either or both does not install a working game. Going the terminal route, with: 'sudo apt install 0ad' results in the error message given in the title. Let me know if I can assist in resolving this minor ( I CAN'T PLAY MY F###ING GAME!) ;) issue.

Hello! On Ubuntu, 0ad is in the "universe" repository. If you are running a fresh install, you may not have activated it yet.

Please try

sudo add-apt-repository universe

before refreshing your package list in your preferred package manager. (there may also be a place in the GUI settings of your package manager to activate universe/multiverse repositories)

That won't help. As 0ad got removed for a while from Debian/testing, it isn't available in (K)Ubuntu 24.04: https://packages.ubuntu.com/search?keywords=0ad

Probably the best solution is to install 0ad as a Snap or Flatpak package: https://gitea.wildfiregames.com/0ad/0ad/wiki/GettingTheUnixRelease#ubuntu

Sure, I suppose. Isn't the 0AD crowd concerned that its game is dropping off the radar on the Ubuntu spins? Perhaps everybody is too busy prepping their survival shelters for the coming storms? I'd like to know that I can still get the latest build with my distro of choice from the comfort of my bunker.

Nothing disappears without a reason.

At that time '0ad' did not compile with python 3.12.

Therefore, the solution was to take '0ad' from 'mantic'.

But time passes and now there is no 'mantic' repository, because 'plucky' was released.

'0ad' is already present in 'plucky'.

https://packages.ubuntu.com/plucky/0ad

Compare the required dependencies, in particular: 'libboost-filesystem1.83.0' and 'libicu74'.
In 'noble' they are probably appropriate.
Then download the '0ad' package ( http://cz.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/universe/0/0ad/0ad_0.0.26-6ubuntu1_amd64.deb ) and install manually (dpkg -i file.deb).

Installing with flatpak is not recommended:

Best regards.
