Suggestion: increase the number of digits in the resource counters.

I don't think that an indicator of a million will be critically out of place at a small resolution.

Then the only hope is the tooltip... Shouldn't the interface adapt to the resolution? For example, in Heroes 4, the interface at low resolution was made more compact than at high resolution, and no one suffered.

Or at least specify the exact amount of the resource when hovering over it, because those "K" don't mean much.

The K means a lot, it means 1000. From a gameplay standpoint if you see  a K by any resource, it means you need to do more fighting and less gathering with your units, ie spend that resource that you have more than 10,000 of.
