A good first step towards that noble end would be allow the UN to control their atomic arsenals.
I'm talking about the US, the UK, France, Israel, India, Pakistan, etc.

Speaking of the demonstrations on Iraq, and many other things like anti-globalization, and ecologist movements, I'm fairly optimistic about "today's youth". Even if it's little what they've achieved, our grandparents did even less (I would have like to say "our parents", but there's May 68, of course).

Why can you believe in an eternal god who always was there, but disregard the idea of a universe with the same characteristics?
I'm not saying that's what I believe, I really have no friggin' idea.

Why do they always pick on Al-Jazeera? Because they offer the Arabic point of view? Seriously, we all should support this refreshing independent Arabic journalism.

But particles time travel has been proven plenty of times all around the world... It's certainly out of the reach of our understanding, but it's possible, and it's been done.
I mean, atomic particles that reach point A before they are sent from point B

I think the most normal height for a halfling was about 1 m.
I'm not sure about Orcs. It's true that, because of the way they walk, they may look shorter than they really are. But they can't be a lot taller than halflings, because Frodo and Sam weren't discovered when marching in an Orc company through Mordor. So they must be approximately as tall as Elf suggests. Uruks, on the other hand, would be probably around the height of a Swarthy Man.
Ents, I think, would be roughly as tall as Trolls.
And I'm pretty sure there has to be some quote about the Balrogs out there, *somewhere*

I'd say up to 1.35-1.40m for Dwarves.

Elf, Michael Crichton's Timeline? I've just read it for the third time A great book.

Ok, I had never used Dictionary.com so much as today, checking all these armor names
I know the Spanish words, but pauldron, for example, is not the kind of word that you're taught in school when learning a foreign language
About the Noldor - the book quotes about "long blades" suggest rectilineal swords. Besides, when it comes to Orcish 'scimitars' it mentions their "curved blades".

next question:
How many Elven lords did Gothmog the Balrog kill? Name them!

Some days I feel more agnostic, some days more atheist. What I'm (personally) very sure is that the Christian/Jewish/Muslim god can't exist as it's depicted in their respective holy books.
I'm not in the mood to argue about this, though.

The key is quantum physics. I wish I could understand them, though.
If you go back and change the past, you wouldn't really changing the past, actually you would be going back to change nothing. Why? Because those changes you introduced (or will introduce...) are already reflected in History, and therefore the only way to change the past would be not traveling back... But that'd be impossible because then the past wouldn't have been changed, and History either, so you would have your reasons to go back again... Confusing, isn't it?
What I'm trying to say is, just because you go back in time doesn't mean you can change things. From this point of view, it would be, actually, impossible to change things.

Your IQ score is 135
This number is the result of a formula based on how many questions you answered correctly on Emode's Ultimate IQ test. Your IQ score is scientifically accurate; to read more about the science behind our IQ test, click here.
During the test, you answered four different types of questions — mathematical, visual-spatial, linguistic and logical. We were able to analyze how you did on each set of those questions, which reveals the way your brain uniquely works.
We also compared your answers with others who have taken the test, and according to the sorts of questions you got correct, we can tell your Intellectual Type is a Facts Curator.
This means you are highly intelligent and have picked up an impressive and unique collection of facts and figures over the years. You've got a remarkable vocabulary and exceptional math skills — which puts you in the same class as brainiacs like Bill Gates. And that's just some of what we know about you from your test results.
I took this test back in september.

Economic Left/Right: -7.38
Libertarian/Authoritarian: -8.51
Or in other words, half way between communism and anarchism. Exactly what I thought before taking the test.

Mainly by the username, but at first, before a forumer makes a solid impression on me, every element (avatar, sig, etc) helps me.
After some time you can change your avatar whenever you want; I'll still recognize you

Too bad the pure linguistic texts were generally disregarded as 'inappropiate' for the mainly narrative books that Christopher Tolkien edited.

Shouldn't you learn both Dutch and French at school? It would be more practical

Well, I'm not sure about the EU borders merging either - but when it comes to new independent states, and how they should be treated by the EU (I mean, automatical accept?) it's a problem.
I don't know how autonomic each region is (and what you said about the electing system sounds quite weird ). Anyway, I'm all for autodetermination, although I'm an internationalist myself.
By the way, is Wallony poorer than, say, Bulgaria?

Yeah dude (SLANG AMERICAN) _ Yes Sir (ENGLISH) _ Ja Kommandant (GERMAN)Sí tío (SLANG SPANISH) _ Sí señor (SPANISH)

The thing with the EU is that new independent states wouldn't have, or would be hard for them to have, a place. I'm fairly sure the best way to go is to have Flanders, Wallony and Brussels as three highly autonomic federal estates (i.e. pretty much like they are, but even more autonomic), and wait for the EU borders to merge.

In Spain the system is similar as in the Netherlands, but with significantly less participation (60-70% top).
By the way, related to the quote in the first post, Chomsky on Al-Jazeera, and (IMO) speaking the truth.

I learned about the LotR Mod (josef's time, before Adam I think - I remember the first time he posted, prolly had shown josef already, the awesome Noldor [movie based] unit!) through HG. Of course, I was just a eager fan until it was a good ways into a game and Adam hired me smile.gif
Same for me.
Hey Elf, remember that huge thread in the 'Projects' forum about the mod? That thread was practically a forum on its own. Pity that the role-playing game kinda ruined it for a while

Why should 'the public' decide what's acceptable and what's not? It's not like if their children were going to be perverts for hearing Bono saying "****"
