  1. Everywhere

Who am I, that You should find,

Pleasure in loving me, and knowing my mind?

When I see Your works, and the things You've done,

I cannot count the immensity; I cannot find the sum.

When I observe Thy handiworks, and Thy wonders,

My doubt is gone, and all mistrust falls asunder.

How can I escape You? If I try hell,

Behold, You see me. If of Heaven I tell,

Lord You find me and see me there,

Where can I go, for you know my every hair.

You see my sitting, and my standing,

You hear and know my thoughts.

Of me You require not, and are not demanding,

For my soul of You is bought.

    Rain

Tiny droplets formed from the ground,

Fall from the sky and the earth they pound.

Some, they pitter, and others patter,

    They're all water, no matter.

Some with lightning create a storm,

    Some they rushing floods form.

Others collapse bridges, and stop cars,

Still others puddle up and don't go far.

    Whether causing panic through destruction,

Or in 4th grade science class for instruction,

They're all angel tears, from unknown pain,

God's gift of refreshment to us, Rain.

    Ps. 91

When I live in the secret place of the most High,

I will abide under His shadow, as evil draws nigh.

He is my refuge and fortress, in Him I trust,

He has delivered me from the snare, why should I lust?

Shield and buckler is God's truth, His feathers cover me,

Terror by night, arrow by day, I will not be afraid nor flee.

Destruction and pestilence shall not hold,

Ten thousand at my side, I will not fold.

The wicked cannot harm me, for my habitation is the Lord,

Evil cannot befall me, nor plague with its rusted sword.

Angels keep charge; He will answer my call,

He shows me His salvation, and delivers from a fall.

    Ps. 130

Out of the depths have I cried to You, O Lord,

Be attentive to my supplication, that I have not reason for discord.

For God, if You should mark my sins,

Who could stand? I would know know where to begin.

There is forgiveness in you, yea, my path is straight,

In Your word do I hope, and my soul doth wait,

My soul doth wait for you more than all,

For with your mercy, I shall not fall.

    Ps. 138

Before earthly pleasures, I sing to You,

May my actions be great, and my words few.

When I cry unto Thee, You listen,

When kings praise Thee, my eyes glisten.

Sing unto God, for great is His glory,

Though He be high, he respects the lowly.

Thy mercy, O Lord, endureth forever,

May the works of Your hands end never.

I also have three songs that I've written -

    Granted Grace

    Verse 1

Going through the problems of this life,

Caring not about the scorning knife,

    Critism constantly bombarding me-

Just what, O what, will get me free?

    Chorus

Yet God grants His sweet grace,

A lil' glimpse of His face,

I'm part of the cracks of time,

Yet this Granted Grace is mine.

    Verse 2

Stresses getting at your time and fun,

Can't just focus on Christ, God's one Son,

Gotta kick off the blinding mockery,

Soon nothing can get grips on me.

    Chorus (2)

    And God...

    Bridge

    God grants His grace,

    Endless in all space,

    God- grants His grace.

    Released from Sin

    Verse 1

    Bonds have held me tight,

I wanna go, but cannot fight,

    Dragged down and thin,

I gotta be released from sin.

    Chorus

    Released from sin,

    My heart You're in,

    With praise I begin,

    Sing'n your song again,

    I have through pain been,

    I am released from sin.

    Verse 2

With love You reach to me,

With passion, You've set me free,

    To Heaven I'm comin' in,

For I am released from sin.

    Where

    Verse 1

    Where can I go,

    Where Your love doesn't flow?

    Where can I flee,

Where You don't think of me?

    Wings of the air,

    You're still there,

    Watching me-

    Chorus

    Holding my hand,

    Helping me stand,

    God, I need Your love,

    You're the Gentle Dove.

    Bring the calm,

    Make me strong,

    I need Your grace,

    I wanna see Your face-

    Verse 2

    What can I do,

    When I'm not with You?

    What can I say,

    About You today?

    King of kings,

    Peace you bring,

    Comfort me-

    Bridge

Speak to me, with me, around me,

Show Your love, Your Peace, Your generosity.

  2. Hooray. I went skiing for the first time of my life this MLKJr weekend up in Winterplace, West Virginia. Had a lot of fun, managed to ski pretty well after my rear became aquainted with the snow about 20 times. Ended up going down a few moderates (no black diamonds, thanks).

Here's a picture of me looking goofy with all the snow stuff on.

  3. Alrighty, I've finally got a wireless network running, with two laptops on the second floor and 3 computers in the same room as the hub and wired to it. I want to be able to have a lot more control over the syncing of my laptop and desktop. For example, I want to check my email on the laptop in OE (or another mail client like Thunderbird) and then have it also be in the same mail client on the desktop. I want to stream music from my desktop (XP) to the laptop (98SE).

If anyone has any knowledge of these things and more options along this kind of topic, please feel free to share.

  4. There's only one explanation I can see - Tolkien's mythos is the newest cultural obsession, the hottest thing on the market - the biggest brand name, the fastest-profit-maker.

Ba-da-bing. Adam scores the winning point. That's all it is, and if the culture likes it (the game), I say "cool, but don't count me in". I'm not planning on getting the game (although I had been when I first heard of it).

BfME is still based on Tolkien, but they did twist it to be the opium for the masses. I don't like it, I know Tolkien wouldn't like it, but I'm not going to judge anyone (such as EA).

    Good discussion, I'm civil :P
