  1. I'm guessing by the name of yours, that you have a PCI one. If possible, take off your PC's case and look at the motherboard. Find your graphics card (the one your monitor plugs into), and look at the slot it goes in on the mobo (short for motherboard). If the slot sits back a bit and is brown, its AGP. If its relatively close the the edge of the mobo and white, its PCI.

AGP is best for gfx cards as its made only for gfx cards. On the other hand, PCI is a "multi-purpose" slot that fits just about anything (sound card, gfx card, network card, modem, etc.), thus its not specialized for running gfx. If you have the brown slot, then it'll be best to get an AGP card.

  2. Well, I'm not going to get on another discussion about guns, i've had too many of those with closed-minded people at pAOM.

If we talk sex, it needs to be kept clean. We do have younger visitors. Yes, they need to know about it, but we shouldn't be the ones to inform them. Thus, in my judgement (since I'm now the general moderator), that kind of discussion should be left to less public means, such as IM'ing and private forums.

I don't want to put a damper on your guys fun, but when i took this job i said I would moderate with my beliefs. No, that doesn't mean i'll be deleting every "mature" topic, but with things like "How often do you have sex?", that's just not going to work. If everyone's reply was along the lines of "maybe once a week" etc, i wouldn't have a problem with it, but going into detail about what you do and such should be a no-no on WFG's public forums.

  3. What would be sweet is to be able to click on any unit, and play that unit in FPS style. Fight his battles, etc. Just have a button on that unit to FP view him, then a hot key to go back (a non-changeable hotkey, so the player doesn't get stuck in that view). What if the soldier/person dies? Just zoom back to "god" view.

    Just a thought...

  4. Maybe, the objects in the map editor could be seperated by categories, i.e. "Egyptian objects", "Greek objects", "Misc. Ruins", etc.

Thats a need. One problem i had with AoM is the units/embellishments/etc. weren't organized very well, imo. AoK had that prob too. Maybe a tree structure, and/or the user can customize it so its ordered by civ or by type (building, unit, object, etc.) or by a whole list, and more.

As for eyecandy (since that is the topic at hand), scroll through all the main games (AoK/M, EE, RoN, WC3, etc) and find the best eyecandy of them all. And please, if you make a bridge, make it walkable unlike the AoM one ;)

  5. Here's some bargain nVidia cards, the ones towards the bottom should work (the MX 440's).

However, I own an MX440, and it'd be better to spend $100 or so on a card that'll last you into next years games B)

    Take a look at these:

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/Se...6043&CatId=1089 - that one looks real nice

    http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/Se...6035&CatId=1089 - $130, if you have a moderate budget.

Yeah, I know I mentioned nVidia. Beginner's nVidia cards are better IMO than the beginner ATI ones (by beginner, i mean those under $50 cards). For later cards, I'd go with an ATI one.

  6. This is my introduction thread. Hello to all, many of you know me, most of you don't, but you soon will.

Eh, i like football (the contact sport kind, American Football), basketball, baseball...well just about every sport. I enjoy a variety of PC games, from Madden 2004 to Morrowind to AoK/M to Medal of Honor, and etc. games. Hoping to get an Xbox for Christmas and become a HALO and NBA Streetball Vol.2 chump :)

I'm good friends with DA(Tim) and CheeZy(Bobby, but that's just part of him B)), and am a passing aquaintance of Rod (Klaas).

    So, hello to all!
