  1. I can't say I've been here as long as Wijit, but I have been here longer than Adam. I remember first being attracted by Josef's LOTR mod (now TLA) and while reading that massive thread, and participating in it a guy (who at the time felt like a show-off outsider) came showed us two 3D works of Noldor elves and a Gandalf (both based on movie, both extremely excellent). LOL, at the time I remember saying "heh, I like Josef's works better" but that's before I knew Adam was going to get involved with TLA (I thought he was just showing off, hey I was foolish at the time... merely a pup to the community). When Josef left and TLA was already down the path to become a game, Adam took over and I continued to follow it as a fan. Eventually I was asked to join, or I asked, I don't remember. Been with TLA ever since.

When you think about it, it's funny how THE purist Tolkien project began as a movie-based mod!

  2. Ok, now get ready for

    Elfy's Burgers (TM thing)

Ok, first you'll need burger patties, avaiable in every store. Preferable if not seasoned, maybe a requirement, I only use non-seasoned.

Now sprinkle Salt, Garlic Powder and Onion Powder on one side. The flip it over and put "Season-All" seasoning on the other (http://www.mccormick.com/productdetail.cfm?ID=6393). The exact quantities I don't know, it's mostly on a trial and error thing.

This must be done while it's still frozen. Then heat up your grill (gas or wood or whatever, but if there's smoke it will taste better) and grill them. Now add on your basic hambuger stuff, like tomatoes, lettuce, cheese (cheddar is my recommendation), pickles, mustard, ketchup and mayo. All in some hamburger bun, specific type doesn't matter.

Trust me, that's the best seasoning I've ever tasted and hopefully the best you've ever tasted (y)

*checks to see if there's frozen burger patties*

  3. Yea, the machette thing was when I was tired of actually trying to get to the next waypoint, and trust me, I had plenty of attempts before surviving (y)

Yea, realistic does become annoying, specially since save points feel SO far between each other, but now I have the night vision goggles and those help so much.

I really hope I don't get 'stuck' on a level too difficult, because it would be a shame having to start over. So far things seem easy, it's the idea of bosses that scare me (is it only one?)

I really am enjoying FarCry, it's challenging (of course, difficulty setting might have something to do with it) but I think if I was to do it again I would go down one difficulty level because at times it becomes a bit too challenging ;)

  4. Well, passed that - thankfully. Didn't have sniper or rocket, but used the assault rifle (first one you get, you know rambo-style) to snipe pretty much all of them, except the guy just inside the cave. Now I've just passed the treehouse level, faced off against he (insert creature's name here) and am now making my way through a underground building - i think it's underground - and just got killed by one of the creatures (this time no protection from trees!)

Pretty cool game. While the AI has stupid moments, it also has moments where it shines brilliantly. And the creatures are AWESOME, took one down with the machette, pretty sweet... though I got fairly injured in that fight.

  5. OK, now I'm faced with a really difficult part. I'm sure it's just the beginning but it's the area where there's a campfire, and merceneries everywhere. There's a cave I have to enter but I need a keycard, which means I must explore the area, which means I need to kill everyone, which is a lot of work and nigh impossible.

  6. Well, when I bought this (2000) it must have been 2-3 years old. Yet being a dinosaur fan I bought it anyway. Played it, found it frustrating at parts but extremely original and quite beautiful. But what I really liked was the idea, even though I admit it did not do the best job excuting that idea it did a unique job.

Well, has anyone played it, what do you think of it? And I see it similar to how I see FarCry. Extremely impreessive engine, far vistas, jungles... Both games lack something somewhere, both games shine in certain parts. Both games feel like an ugly hybrid of an awesome game with a crappy one.

  7. Stupid black dude just said

"Just keep an eye out for anything that moves. If it looks dangerous, well then it is."

I DON'T LIKE THE SOUND OF THAT!!!!!

An island full of armed terrorrist intent on killing me, no problem.

Something not quite natural, okay we have a problem!

  8. Thanks, but I'm already past that part. My problem is I get too role-playy and try to act as the character would, even if that jeperdizes my life. So I die a few times trying to storm into a room putting a single bullet into the head of each enemy - doesn't always work

Right now I'm in the demo level, got the boat and gotta go destroy the satellite.

I don't want you to spoil my gaming experience, but am I 0%, 25%, 50% or 75% through the game... and are the 'creatures' cool (I assume that's what makes the game, if not more difficult, at least scarier). By creatures I mean those things you see in the opening cinematic.

  9. Yea, near the beginning, and the other guy is carrying boxes from the dock to a building? Yea, that part got me interested... but it lasted only a little bit. Now there are ppl patrolling far into the bush, I know it's exactly what I asked for, but it's not how I wanted it. I wanted a dynamic system, if they never spotted me it still feels like those soldiers will be patrolling the roads in the middle of nowhere. They never rest (question, if I wait long enough will it get dark and turn to night?)

I guess I'm only mad at what the game COULD have become. Anyway, just got into the big tanker and that's proving difficult because everywhere i go I find enemies around the corner.

  10. Well, I'm not overly impressed... it's nothing like Halo. The enemies did prove a bit smarter, but stuff like driving they still do horribly and run the humvies into trees trying to get at me.

It's proving a nice challenge at Realistic difficulty, and driving is certainly a lot of fun. I can't play on graphic settings of Very High because of lag during fire-fights so I had to lower to only High, which does not look bad.

I kind of wish it was a more realistic game though, like guards not simply patrolling and waiting for an attack, instead they should be at a natural state and relaxed. Once the island knows about me they could go in groups through the bush trying to find me. Anyway, I'll continue playing... but right now I'm more interested what modders might do with this awesome technology.

    Imagines predator style game
