Some players wanted to have the replay from a 1vs1 between @borg- and @Stockfish. I guess we can use this thread for more great games in the future as well. commands.txt metadata.json

@alre i believe @Dunedan is responsible for the lobby bots, included the rating bots. I looked at the code and it should not be so hard to implement.

I would love to have the option of rated TGs together with auto balance, so the players won't waste 10+ mins just discussing the balance of the teams. It is going to make 0ad more enjoyable in my opinion.

Here is the schedule. Keep in mind that if 1 team has 1 player less, will they loose the game automatically. Better said, just the first round. After around 30 mins starts the next round. If the player is still not there will the team loose the match.

Hi, we tried to create the teams as balanced as possible but we can still split the teams and make small changes if they are requested. Contact me today if you think 1 team is stronger or you want to play in a different team due to personal problems with a player or just play together with a friend. 0zon will upload the schedule this evening. It is a bracket system, we randomized the bracket using https://challonge.com/tournament/bracket_generator Bracket 1: team_1 team_3 Bracket 2: team_2 team_4 Teams, give me a custom team name as soon as possible, so we don't have to name you team_1, team_2, etc.

Hi, We had to do a late stage rule change to increase the balance. The difference from the teams will not be +-100 but +- 25. So the max difference in rating between the best and worst team is only 50 rating points. I am really sorry, but the current teams that have a average rating above or bellow the new rule will have to split up and get into that rating. My own team was affected too. The minimum required average rating is now 1466. The maximum required average rating is now 1516. Free team registration time until Friday 14:00pm CEST. If a few teams have not been registered until that date will we create the teams manually in the evening. Everybody can take part in the team creation Friday afternoon CEST. Hi @everyone, i know that taking the average of the rating from all players is not a good way to balance things up. But it's only there to give us a upper and lower limit or rating allowed for each player. MINIMUM_AVERAGE_TEAM_RATING = AVERAGE_PLAYER_RATING - 100 MAXIMUM_AVERAGE_TEAM_RATING = AVERAGE_PLAYER_RATING + 100 but we need to correct the ratings from the players in the tournament. And there are a few players whose rating need to be corrected in my opinion. We can discuss it together in #rating-discussion or in the forum. @Effervescent and me combined our local ratings to get at least a few parameters like Tributes send, gathered resources and the amount of killed enemies by value together with a adjusted general local rating. But local rating isn't accurate, above all for rushers and early tributes, etc. That's why we want the opinion from all players. RULES Team Player Count: If a team is short a player compared to its opponent during the scheduled game, that game will be counted as a loss for the team with fewer present players. Map Selection: Maps will be randomly selected via pickerwheel.com and announced 48 hours before the match starts. Committee Oversight: At least one committee member must be present from the beginning to the end of each game to ensure its validity. TG Tournament 2 Hello everyone! It's with regret that we noted many players were unable to participate in the first tournament due to issues ranging from management hiccups to time constraints. For that, we've taken the feedback to heart and revamped the entire system. While we deeply sympathize with those who were eager to continue the first round, circumstances made it unfeasible. The second round has new rules. If the rules will not be followed by a single player will the game from that team be considered as a lose, no matter what outcome there will be. We have established a strict schedule. If you foresee a conflict with the stated times on either Saturday or Sunday within any given round, we urge you not to sign up for the tournament. Kindly register only if you are 99% certain you can adhere to the specified times. Please try to give us a accurate rating for yourself, because there will be a minimum and maximum allowed rating for each team depending on the average rating for all players, so we can have a balanced tournament. The ratings should be reviewed by all the players, to ensure that nobody is cheating and reducing or increasing his own value to play with a certain team they shouldn't be able to play normally. To register, please provide your (and potentially your friends') accurate TG rating and specify your availability—whether that's Saturday, Sunday, or both days. Write it down bellow in the comments. Be reminded that we only have 24 slots for this round. 6 teams. Do review the schedule and rules prior your commitment.

It seems like the entire E-Team is about to get dissolved. That's really sad. Well, playing with bots was a method to scare the players, i didn't though it would happen in reality.

I would have the option to see how many games has a player played, how old is his account, etc. Like interesting stats you can see in basically each other game. Now, i don't know if you have that kind of information collected, but it would be helpful in my opinion and should be definitely implemented. Together with a more accurate rating system that rates above all the TG performance. -
Yeah, it's to late to change something. But we might change things for the second tournament, if we ever start one. Somebody might develop a mod or a parser that identifies strange interactions that are not human, so we can check the validity after the game or so. Maybe everybody will use proGui until then xd and we are just in time to create a parser that checks for autoSniping xd

I started the tournament without any rules related to mods, how do you want to do it? Like, you will have to check each game from all the players to see if somebody activated proGui and co in some moment. They can activate it just in the later stage. That's to much work for me to do. I have already enough by trying to get the teams playing and to get as many players as possible, so that the game can consist at least of a 3vs3. I would really need some help, because i can't spend so much time on the Tournament.

But it will become accurate after the first 10 games or so. It might be harder to get the first games with that system, but it will make smurfing less appealing. New players start without community-mod, so it will take them some time to get it. But it will be suspicious if you see suddenly a account with 0 games wanting to play a game that's hosted with the community-mod. It will not change so much for new players, but make it harder for smurfs. And like in my case will i be able to trust camelator and other players easier, if i get a somewhat accurate rating for him for TGs and know that he played a few games with that account. So i can let a player i don't know play easily. Smurfs will have to grind harder and their ratings will be corrected after they destroy 1-2 games with the right formula. -

@camelator i am really sorry for this. I didn't had a great day until then and was a little bit stressed. I had bad experience with smurfs telling they are bad players and then suddenly being the best or one of the best players in that game. It trows off the entire balance, which you want to have. There are players who have time for maybe 1-2 games in the night and they want to enjoy it, so i try to put known players in there. But i know how hard it is a beginner. I was in that position a few months ago and it's really hard. You want to play but are rejected, because some players want to have a good time with players they know. It took me a long time to be slowly accepted in those games. What i usually did was, host a game on my own. Look everybody is always careful about the lvl of the other players, like @CryptoCamelius in that chat. The sad reality is that many players fear other players they don't know, because it might be a 2000 rated player or a person who plays 0ad for the first game or just another smurf or troll. I go sometimes to other games and try to help new players by giving them some tipps and hints and try to help them improve if i am able to do it, just like other players helped me. We need a better rating system for 0ad in my opinion. Something that can rate the TG performance of each player and then maybe just autoBalance the games on his own, so the hosts don't have the dilema between choosing who to let play. I am sorry. -
i was thinking of it. We could make a 2d table where each team has to play each other once, but then will a few teams never play, probably. Because they don't get together if there is no pressure. But we might do it.
