  1. I don't have much experience with a wide range of brands. I know that Compaq's got really bad support (that's common knowlegde ;))

Consumer Reports says that Apple and Toshiba (i think) have the best record for not breaking and customer satisfaction. that's all I know.

  2. Yeah just security and crash fixes http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/re...ml#otherchanges

    # Fix for a potential buffer overflow vulnerability when loading a hostname with all soft-hyphens

    # Fix to prevent URLs passed from external programs from being parsed by the shell (Linux only)

    # Fix to prevent a crash when loading a Proxy Auto-Config (PAC) script that uses an "eval" statement

    # Fix to restore InstallTrigger.getVersion() for Extension authors

    # On Linux, Firefox now follows GTK's setting for textbox keybindings, so pressing Ctrl+letters triggers application shortcuts instead of readline-like text-editing shortcuts.

  3. I thought the trial of Fraps didn't let you choose the extension of screenshots. Maybe that was an earlier version. It wouldn't make much difference anyway  you could just change it manually, but it's more convienient to choose JPG or PNG or even GIF maybe...

I'm not sure if a program is required for Mac OS X, but one of these should suffice for the other operating systems. Hope that helps.
