  1. i dont like welfare. in my opinion, its a little on the commi side, idk, just something about the government giving certain people money to try and give them an "equal" oppurtunity. i really dont like the word equal. we live in a capitalist state and capitalism isnt supposed to be "equal." i'm a strong believer in social darwinism and the fact that if you cant work to get your money then you dont deserve it. i know that you cant completely eliminate welfare for those not able to do ANY work but if your even capable of completing a simple job, you should do it and not rely on your government.

now my friends have called me a "fascist" and a "****ing reactionary" for my views but seriously consider this...why should one rely on their government for money?!?!?! :P

  2. So why is the US in Iraq ronbuston?

sorry i hadnt checked this thread in a while...

i personally dont think we are there to "free the iraqi people" like the bush administration is telling us. i think we are there to reduce a possible threat to our country in the future. i dont believe iraq was our most prominent threat though...well i did when the cia was telling everyone they had WMD's but now that the circumstances are different my opinions are too.

i dont think bush is a good president (or a bad one for that matter) but i think gore would have been worse and kerry will be too if he elected. :P

  3. ok, i dont think kids should be forced to say "under god" but i still hold true to my word on pledging your allegance to your country. someone said...forgot who...that they would move from country to country if one is better than the other. in my mind, you are nothing more than a fair weathered fan. it takes hard work and dedication to keep a country running smoothly and leaving yours because it is struggling isnt the way to solve problems. by making an effort to help your country you could be helping many other people who maybe dont have the oppurtunity to "move out" once something goes bad. i think acting any other way would just be cowardly. i know you might think my ways of thinking are harsh but i truly believe in them.

right so back to the pledge....i think i said earlier or in a differnet thread that the term "god" should be replaced by something else like "under democracy"

thats all i got for now :P

  4. In one of my classes I refused to stand up and the teacher publicly asked me "What are you doing?" saying that it is your dudty to pledge alliegence....what do you people have to say about this?

i think it is your duty to say the pledge. people in america don't truly understand all that their government does for them. thanks to our government we are the wealthiest nation in the world(as a whole). if you are not loyal enough to pledge your allegiance to your country...well...its scary. i say if one won't pledge his allegiance to his country, then one should not live in that country. :indifferent:

  5. anybody is really better than Bush..even Bin Laden lol.

    ok, thats disgusting

Bush gets a horrible rap for things he didn't even do. It's not his fault 9/11 happened, nor is it his fault the American economy is lacking. I recently read an article in TIME Magazine saying that the Clinton administration new about upcoming terrorist attacks and the involvement of al queda but didn't act on it becuase they didn't want to hand a war over to the Bush administration. I also think that the economy can in no way be blamed on Bush. Al Queda didn't attack just becuase a republic was in office, they attacked becuase they hate our country and everything about it. I think that is the only reason our economy is so bad, people are scared. And for Iraq, we aren't there to get oil!!! With the information Bush got from the CIA, i think going to war was very justifiable. BUSH FOR PRESIDENT :)

  6. over-rated

    - haitian revolution (though it did have a dominoe effect on other latin american countries, i think with the industrialization and enlightenment, the spread of democracy would have occured anyways)

    - black plague (killed alot of people...but what else? it had to effect on any new technologies or new intellectual thinkers)

    - napolean (i think napolean is far overrated...everyone knows his name but he didn't do much but take over europe. i think a more important thing would be the french revolution that he came from)

    - great wall (sure it was big...but for most of chinese history, it didn't even lie on the border, thus making it useless)

    under-rated

-saladin (he kicked the "poop" out of the christians in the 4th(?) crusade and no one seems to care about him

-mongols (these guys were the best, they spread disease, took over the whole word, enhanced trade, and their technology and skills with horses and bow/arrow were superb)

    - sunni/shia split (this event lead to much of the violence and hatred the middle east is experiencing today)

  7. why can't they just share israel...turn it into a multi religious/cultural nation.

i know this sound utopic and nearly impossible, but i think it is feasable. i think we need to find a strong leader that is half palestinian, half jewish decent to bring the people together. :D

  8. i'd have to agree with you erik... japan has a good chance

after WWII they have constantly been building up their economy and military. their only problem is their lack of resources and the fact that they are an island, making it harder to control colonial holdings. ;)

  9. I've been wondering, who will be the next world superpower after the United States is gone? Will it be a terrorist group like al queda that wins power by guerrilla attacks, or one of the front runners now like GB?

i would like to hear other peoples responses! :(

  10. even though i would like bush to win, i think kerry will take it. with the economy failing...even though it isn't bush's fault... the american people are looking for a new face to solve the problem. bush got off to a bad start with 9/11 and such and i think he could make a great president in peace time situations. another thing he has against him is how operation iraqi freedom is being run. we don't have enough people there to totally knock out the enemy so our troops are getting stuck in small skirmishes they weren't trained to fight in. bush is definately not one of the best presidents we have had but i don't think kerry will be either :(

  11. i don't think race should be an issue in choosing people who will be enrolled in a college. i don't think it is fair that if it came down to it where only one spot was available to two kids, one white and one of "color" , that the student of "color" should be admitted to the school just becuase of the "color" of their skin. hasn't our country worked since the 60's to eliminate the color of a persons skin as a factor of judgment. if affirmative action is allowed, why shouldnt we use race and a factor for making SPORTS TEAMS or other activities where talent SHOULD be the only option to make it in.

i know this is poorly worded but please think it over anyways

    tommy :P

  12. i would have to say that the fall of a nation comes from corruption within their bureacracy. corruption of government officials has occured in nearly (if not) every empire up until this time. the chinese tried to prevent this by instituting the civil service exams but the aristocrats came out on top anyways. i think it is clear to see that the american legislature in becoming very corrupted as we speak with so much lobbying an bribing going on. i think it might be a good idea to take some of china's ideas of the past and institute them in america (minus the confucianism). anyways, if we don't do something, we will pay for it in the next century or so.

  13. i personally dont think abortion should be decided by fifty year old men in washington. though i am catholic and i tend to side with the republicans i believe abortion should be the choice of the mother in certain circum stances such as rape, sex within a family, and chronic disease. i also believe that the number of abortions per woman should be restricted to take away the risk of using this as a new birth control method.
