As CodeOptimist said, it's a loopback. It allows you to run a server on your machine(ftp, for example), and be able to access via the same interface as everyone else.

Yes Mythos, condemn and pervert have negative connotations, but I thank you for the clear up on what they mean...
And now you resort to mockery, without addressing the issue. You imply that my view of two types of "belief" is absurd, yet make no case to advance this view. Your "chair" mockery is a logical fallacy - yet another straw-man.
It would be a strawman if I were actually attacking a position, but I wasn't, I was making a point. You can call a rose by any other name, but it's still a rose. Much the same as you were trying to make a point.
For future reference, a strawman is where you attack a position other than what was actually taken. You're stating that there's two different kinds of 'faith', I'm stating that there's not.
av_nefardec, I suppose you're right about my mispelling, but unfortunately I work graveyard and was half asleep when I typed up that response. When people don't want to think they'll respond back with exactly what was thrown at them, and unforunately, in this case, I did the same.
Do this as an interesting experiment. Go out and greet everyone with 'Hi', and watch how they greet you. The next day, do it again with 'Hello', or 'yo', or something else, and watch what happens

What I should have said earlier is that if your a good person, you'll have a pretty good life (hopefully)
Sorry, but that hasn't been my experience
Learn to play the game. Idealists don't generally get that far. Doesn't mean you have to be 'bad', but it takes more than high morality to be successful. We, as humans, are social creatures, which has it's good and bad

I guess when it comes down to it, religion is only what you personally want to make it.
And that's the point that I've been driving towards
The dictionary definition is so broad, that in the end, it *is* up to personal interpretation. If a person calls it a religion, who are you to tell him it's not? You have about as much right, as Christians do to tell you that you're going to hell for being an Atheist.
Again, you use Scientology to condem science as a religion. Just because a group of people pervert an idea into a religion, doesn't mean that idea and its other believers* are religious.
condem
pervert
In your eyes religion has a seriously negative connotation, and it's one that you don't want, and in fact refuse, to attribute to 'science' in general, or Atheism. I don't view religion as a negative term, thus our differences in opinion.
I hold that there are two types of "chairs" - The "sitting in chair" and what I like to call "resting my buttocks on a board with a back, and feet" I'm not actually SITTING in the "resting my buttocks on a board with a back and feet", I'm merely resting my buttocks on a board with a back and feet. I'm not SITTING in the chair, because it's not a chair, it's a board with a back and feet.

Check out the 'what is scientology' link.
I can hear it now, it's a reilgious philosophy, not a religion, LMAO.
And wonder of all wonders, dictionaries aren't valid forms of reference to back one's argument up.
The problem is that most people use atheism to denote the absence of belief, but that's not correct. Atheists believe. They believe that God doesn't exist. That's a principle, and one that most follow with religious devotion. I've always found it amusing how personal atheists take it when someone tells them that atheism is a religion.
I fancy myself a bit of a mathematician, but I don't get bent out of shape when someone tells me that Mathematics is a philosophy(I agree with them).
I always wonder why religious people try and make this point anyways. Is it to try and rationalise their position? I don't know, perhaps you can enlighten meBeing an Agnostic myself, I don't think I can enlighten you. But I do have an idiosyncracy that drives other people crazy. I firmly believe that if you're going to argue, do it *validly* If I see an invalid argument, I attack it, regardless of the position.
Amusing that you assume I'm religious simply because I came up with a rebuttal to your arguments.
And you're not going to get that analogy right anytime soon I'm afraid. If I were you, I'd just drop it.

Why don't we get together and plan a night of some StarCraft? It'd have to be on the Weekend, or I won't be able to attend though
-
And anyways, the way I see it, I don't think any nice God can punish me for thinking rationally and rejecting a notion with almost no evidence. He'll understand
LMAO. What if he's not a nice god?

If atheism is a religion, then not playing soccer is a sport
Actually, it should be, if atheism is a religion, then not believing soccer exists is a sport.
But regardless, the analogy is flawed.
a meaningful definition of religion: the worship of a supernatural deity.a meaningful definiton of atheism: the rejection of supernatural entities.
Now you're not being completely honest. That, or you're truly ignorant of the definition of religion
re·li·gion P Pronunciation Key (r-ljn)
n.
Belief in and reverence for a supernatural power or powers regarded as creator and governor of the universe.
A personal or institutionalized system grounded in such belief and worship.
The life or condition of a person in a religious order.
A set of beliefs, values, and practices based on the teachings of a spiritual leader.
A cause, principle, or activity pursued with zeal or conscientious devotion.
Look at the last one. A cause, principle, or activity pursued with zeal or conscientious devotion.
Science itself is considered a religion(scientology), so yes, Atheism is indeed a religion.

I think it's the understanding that you *are* true friends.
I've have a particular friend that I've known for 9 years, and I love the guy, no if's, and's, or but's about it. We've been through a lot.
And no, I'm not gay

It's the phenomenon that prevents everything from happening at the moment.

Quacker, if it helps, I pretty much completely disagree with your stance, but I didn't find a problem with your presentation.
I think most of the people that *do* have a problem with it, need to think about why that is.
They can't change your opinion, so they try to force a modicum of control on you by 'tattling'. You didn't curse at anyone, you simply stated your stance in a very strong fashion.
I say bravo to you, and keep it up. If you're sure of how you feel, let everyone know.

I mean the concepts of god and technology. They really have nothing to do with each other, and they could easily coexist, or not.
-
the two concepts are mutuall exclusive, so I don't see why they can't coexist.
-
You can solve this two ways. Using Analytic Geometry(as Wijitmaker pointed out), or using some substitution, and derivates.
The other method involves derivatives, and finding maximums, minimums, etc.
remember, A=x*y in this case. Substitute.
Unfortunately it's been about 3-4 years since I finished Calc 3, so it's all a bit hazy too me, and I don't have the time to hop back into my calc, or Analytic Geometry, book.
*goes back to coding like a madman*

You also live in the US, and so you *do* have some form of Gun Control.
Completely taking guns away from citizens is not the answer, but neither is giving them to whomever wants one. There has to be a happy medium, but how to find it?

I'm sorry, but only an idiot opens attachments with dodgy file types.
And if that email comes from a friend, or business acquaintance? What do you do then?
Oh that's right, you run an anti-virus check on the email
PS
email isn't the only way to get a virus on your machine

Why do I get the feeling that Licensed Devil is one of those poor souls still sending out the blaster worm(common sense beats out upgrades anyday).
Don't get me wrong, I don't normally run with an antivirus either, but not because I think I'm smart enough to avoid all Virii....
-
I just read an article on AnandTech and Licensed Devil is right, there will be X16 slots for graphics cards that will provide 4 GB/s bandwidth in each direction (8 GB/s total) and the standard X1 slot for regular expansion cards.
4Gb/s in *both* directions? Oh the possibilities.

only 5? darn, I was planning on bringing the Wheel of Time series
1) Shogun - best novel I've ever read, bar none
2) Calculus Book - in case I ever need to calculate
3) Bible
4) Bible
5) Necronomicron - To keep satanism alive
The reason I've included two copies of the bible is because I'm going to need lots of paper for starting fires.

The quit worrying about AMD vs Intel and go with a Mac, they're *made* for multimedia processing.
Otherwise go with an AMD. I doubt you're going to be purchasing the top of the line, and if you're not, going with Intel is a *lot* more expensive. Not just the processor itself, but the memory required for it.
-
I believe that the top is claimed by Intel, but we're talking high dollar here, and the difference between Intel and AMD at the top is so small that it won't matter anyway.
I'd recommend AMD, you'll get more bang for your buck.
but then again, I'm one of those ppl who doesn't think that you require a 5ghz processor just to play StarCraft

Maybe the teacher deserved it.
Of course noone deserves getting shot in the head(or very few), but I've met some @#$% teachers in my life, and I was always a good, mild mannered student. What about those students who are more rowdy? 9 times out of 10 a teacher develops a dislike for that student, and it shows. It's happened to me, and I was never that outspoken, or rowdy.
Most teachers that I've met have a superiority complex. They seem to think it's their job to do something other than teach, and it's not.
I was once asked to stand out in the hallway behind the rack of coats so that noone could see me, and I was left there all day*we're talking 7-8 hours). After 2-3 days of this I finally broke down and told my mother about it. Why did the teacher do it? Who knows, but I was moved to a different class, and enjoyed it much more. Of course I was very young at the time, but WTH is that?

You guys are just living in denial.
Learn linux, and watch the babes flock to you.
You'll constantly here requests such as:
"oooh, let me see you flex your CLI muscles again!"
"wow, you use all those devices for what?!?"
and my all-time favorite
"wow.... I never knew mounting your device would be such a pain in the @#$%!"
Now, if you'll excuse me, I have swedish twins who are wanting my attention

There are several types of polymorphism. The polymorphism that MarkT describes is but one of those(albeit, the most common).
Interestingly enough, most people don't realize that operator overloading in C++ is a form of static polymorphism.
Just remember that object-oriented programming is impossible without some type of polymorphism(otherwise you simply have object-based programming.

Woman like to be dominated, it's part of our natural relationship. Just not total domination.
Why do you think the nice guy never get's laid(or rarely)?
But I do understand the backlash from the femenists. It's a natural reaction to the 'role' woman have had for years
