Well I only found this so far...sounds hackey though : http://stackoverflow...optimus-laptops It may not be possible to create an nvidia context directly, you may just get an intel one, but one of the answers says its possible to create an application profile in the Nvidia Control panel for 0ad. One of the initial answers indicates that bf3.exe is run with nvidia automatically - battlefield 3 ? So towards the end he mentions that if the laptop is switched to High Performance from the windows power management panel then the nvidia card stays on and applications should be started with it. Well I think some games are able to see both the cards while some cant. I am not sure how but I think there is driver support for detecting an nvidia card even if its not on due to power saving and optimus. -

First off, the game looks awesome now ! I love the bump mapping on the hill sides that give a sense of depth. Congrats on a great release and all the hardwork. I am on i7, nvidia 630m, 14 gb ram, and I just don't get the responsiveness of AoK when I scroll. I kept only the 2 shadow options on and turned off everything else. Where could the bottleneck be in the code exactly ? There was some profiling done by Ykkrosh sometimes back and I think pathfinding was an issue. Cant it be simplified more ? maybe do it in a separate thread. I am playing the default Acropolis scenario that gets loaded when someone clicks through the 1st time without changing any options in the game setup screens. By they way for the initial map load, is it possible to show a progress bar. It takes really long and a progress bar would help. ------ Edit -------------- ok sorry sorry, it was my mistake. it seems my laptop has the silly nvidia optimus thing so I needed to make sure that pyrogenesis.exe was started with the nvidia card. It was starting with the intel hd graphics 3000 and thats why it was so slow. Now I have smooth scrolling and movement with all features turned on and I can play again !! -

Yep if units start dying quickly all of a sudden then either there is a battle or a nuclear bomb went off somewhere in the map. Either way, the player should know ! -

I like the idea of damadge rate/death rate for battle detection. There does not seem to be any other condtion under which this could happen unless individual soldiers are fighting other individual soldiers over a widely dispersed area and high numbers of soldiers are dying, which is a rather unlikely scenario. Even better if the death rate is higher than a certain value for some time. -
But trebuchets are cool :) Yeah, I guess the AI can detect certain events. With the addition of diplomacy, gates, alerts when attacked, capturing / convertng enemy buildings and perhaps cute AI dialog, the game will finally be feature complete as compared to AoK(I mean that as a compliment of course ) Regarding movement of formations, when a formation decides to change the direction of movement, dont you guys think the soldiers at the side move a bit too fast ? They seem to suddenly accelerate then slow down which looks kind of like a truck changing directions By the way do you think stuff like day and night , wind or rain would add to the gameplay ? I remember winds in Sid Meir's Pirates of the Carribean rushing ships along towards the rocks !! Also lighthouses in the night would look cool near sea ports, or fires at the top of towers . Perhaps outposts can use fires to signal over large distances. The lighting effect would be challenging though - using light maps or something. Lit up houses in the night and camp fires would look great. Low visiblity may make some strategies possible that were impossible in AoK

Awesome, I have been building off the SVN regularly and the game has stablized and is so much fun to play now !! Yes, looking forward to gates in the next release too. So I was wondering, how about piecing together a fun learning scenario. I still remember the story based William Wallace scenario in Age of Kings which introduced me to the game. Was an awesome intro that hooked me to AoK for ever !! Maybe a scenario that demontrates essential skills and features. By the way, are trebuchets planned ?

the debug.keystore seems to be generated on first build. I am downloading eclipse and installing the ADT and then I ll build one of the sdk samples. ok I am trying to compile the game on my samsung galaxy S plus: model number GTI9001 on Ubuntu 12.04 running inside virtual box. I am not able to get my head around the nested for-j loops --------------------- ok so looking further down I see you always pass number as 20 via futureNum so for each queue in the for-loop, you are calculating fractions of 20 and then checking the value against qm.queues[queues].countQueuedUnits() if (num < qm.queues[queues[i]].countQueuedUnits()){ var cnt = 0; for ( var j = 0; cnt < num; j++) { cnt += qm.queues[queues[i]].queue[j].number; needs.add(qm.queues[queues[i]].queue[j].getCost()); number -= qm.queues[queues[i]].queue[j].number; } }else{ for ( var j = 0; j < qm.queues[queues[i]].length(); j++) { needs.add(qm.queues[queues[i]].queue[j].getCost()); number -= qm.queues[queues[i]].queue[j].number; } queues.splice(i, 1); i--; } So you are essentially checking that the queues have the number of queued up units in proportion to their priority ? Also why is there a need to recurse ? -

Yes I didnt see any slow downs playing with oasis too. I could not beat qbot either as it kept sending wave after wave. So it did not give up quickly and was somehow managing to find food. Played for an hour yesterday and will continue the game today though I think qbot is trying to wear me down now.

So is there some particular line in the script which tells qbot to harvest far from the civ center ? I would think that after resources withing a certain radius is exhausted, it will start with fields near the civ center and send out only very few citizens to gather stuff far away. Maybe the fact that most of the villagers are now beyond a certain distance from the village, can be detected. Then 70% of them can be recalled back to work on a field close to the civ center ? Even better when the citizens are unable to find food for the 1st time, then start making fields. I ll get cracking on the qbot script. ------------- so as regards trade, is the restriction of the ai being unable to make markets due to a restriction in the ai API or something absent in the qbot script ?
