  1. Well, i think its quite okay if the Iberians have fire ships because its quite natural for them to come out with this idea because the enemy have true navy not a partisan navy.
  2. The main concern of the topic was how to give the Iberian player an option to build an indigenous naval fleet or a naval fleet supplied by its protector or mercenaries. The first option grants the player to convert civilian vessels into war vessels with the ability to attack and transport soldiers from an island to another island either for expansion purpose or military purpose(raiding, amphibious assault). The second option was a more historical based option, since the Iberian naval combat experience was a blank and most of them are under Carthage protection then it is possible that Carthage would protect the Iberian's interest by sending naval fleet to protect the Carthage maritime interest in Iberia. As in the game it could become an option that looks like some kind of "technology" that player could choose to research or not based on player's judgment which i have previously suggested. The third was a common sense based option, hiring mercenaries (historical regions and time frame as the limit) most likely to be Celts or maybe the Greeks who have colonies in the Iberian peninsula. As for capturing ship is not really achievable because ships (warships) tend to fire missiles and boulder where they could attack in a very long range. To make the situation worst all the warships are heavily guarded by marines and it is impossible for soldiers to capture the ship without any risk unless it was harmless and close enough to the shore where soldiers could capture it.
  3. Perhaps these books could provide some information needed for us to understand the Iberian maritime activity: 1. Re-evaluating Iron Age maritime societies: the North West Iberian Peninsula by Rodrigo Pacheco Ruiz 2. Colonial Encounters in Ancient Iberia: Phoenician, Greek, and Indigenous Relations by Michael Dietler and Carolina Lopez-Ruiz
  4. Hiring mercenary war vessels? Sounds logical to me, but will they accept this proposal? No, i don't think so.
  5. Side question 2: if there's no allies at all and you're locked in an archipelago surrounded by enemies with sophisticated war vessels and you have limited resources to expand your armies, does it mean that you're terminated even before the game started? As a community member, i hope that the team take a serious consideration on the Iberian maritime matter. Either the team remove the Iberian seaport building from the construction option and make it an editor-only structure or figure out a policy tech like the Carthaginian Vassal that could grant Iberian player to use a limited Carthaginian war vessels (Bireme, not other medium and heavy war vessels).
  6. Finally, there's a good answer. Thank you.
  7. I'm sorry, did you mean that Iberians should stick on some diplomatic agreement between players but if a player was forced to confront the enemy without any diplomatic option, how could they possibly win the conflict? Well, if there's no war vessels for the Iberian player in a naval conflict, what could they do to win a naval conflict?
  8. No point of having civilian vessel or naval port in a random map if you cannot protect them, either they could fit themselves with soldiers into merchant ship that granting them some offensive ability or imposing a policy that allows Iberian player to summon Carthaginian war vessel or else the Iberian will be barred from joining any maritime activity related map.
  9. Alright, then you guys have confirmed that there's no port or civilian ship for the Iberians in the random map. Thank you, feneur for providing me a good explanation.
  10. Then for what purpose the Iberian need a port? There's no point of building a port and civilian vessel and then the enemy could destroy them with ease. If so the structure should be a scenario available structure because there's no point for the Iberians to show themselves in naval warfare related random map.
  11. If the Iberians have no war vessel, how do they compete against the other five factions in the game? Is it possible for the Iberians to hire mercenary war vessel from shipyard/port or they share the same vessel with the Celts? If so then the Iberians could at least defend the coast from the other factions.
  12. Is it possible for 0 AD to add hostile neutrals into the game like Warcraft III where player could engage battle and gain experience or resources from these hostile neutrals?
  13. I've seen the Iberian sandbox but i can't find any Iberian warship, is it possible that 0 AD team may add in new Iberian naval unit during the next release?
  14. That sounds logic, at least this reminds me this is not Command and Conquer: Generals. Thank you.
  15. I think we could consider adding taxation into the game when metal runs out and there are no potential trading partners in the game. By researching taxation, all working civilian or citizen soldier/town levy will generate a steady flow of metal for the player.
  16. I suggest Aeneas, the founder of the Roman culture (not the city of Rome).
  17. Some unit like chariots/scythe chariots should have special option that grants them the ability to charge home against a large group of infantry and caused death and mayhem during the charge. That should give chariot a more practical purpose instead of a mobile missile platform.
  18. Perhaps the game should include baggage train and attrition like Rise of Nation.
  19. Here's another Excubitor image: Hope you guys will like it.
  20. The first bell are the call to arms for the citizen soldiers and the second could be state of emergency alert for civilian, hopefully this suggestion could help .
  21. I think you could add foot Savaran to the Sassanid army list or you may add Deylamites to the army list because the Sassanid army roster lack shock infantry. You may consider Islamic Persia instead of Ghaznavid Empire for a more flexible policy making. Here's some examples: Deylamites Paighân-î Sassâni
  22. They could gain some promotion in order to compete against Seleucid and other successor state champion unit, a unique champion unit with cheap price and citizen army status but not to be too strong against other champion unit. As i said before they should be a unit with a special status. Historically these unit are prone to rebellion and the Ptolemies decided to recruit foreign soldiers than using native Egyptian in large number, by giving a half status to these unit could somehow portray the nature of these unit. But after all it is you and the team makes the decision, i am but a community enthusiast that wait to play the game after all.
