If you're one of the people that update the game regularly through SVN then you can see it.

Vikings are out of the time frame of our game.
-
You'll generally find that on the Factions Page on the 0 A.D. webpage and in the game's Wiki. But here is the list: Part I Hellenes Republican Romans Celts Iberians Persians Carthaginians Part II (tentative) Imperial Romans (Trajan era) Eastern Romans (early Byzantines) Huns Parthians Dacians Germanics

It might be wise to allow former members the function of moderators or something (I'd be up for it). I see spam frequently and would delete it if I could. lol

Well, I think it's okay to have something like what Amish proposes done in single-player. I just don't like that in multiplayer. In fact, I like the idea of completing challenges as you play the CTW campaign to gain Achievement Awards, such as new technologies to research and other benefits (auto-firing towers, no garrison necessary, would be a nice one!). As long as we don't extend these to multiplayer, I am perfectly fine with it.

That might be hard to balance, since then it might be possible to just overrun the enemy towns too quickly.

If we keep it simple, basically like a "random map script" selector, it could work. Instead of selecting random maps from a drop-menu, you click the provinces on the map and it'll load thew appropriate random map (or custom map, Starcraft-style, however we want to do it). Perhaps then you have to win X number of battles per province and then you get that province added to your empire and it would show up graphically on the selection map. Randomly, or scripted, you could get challenges from computer factions that "fight back" and try to wrestle provinces from you. You can have 6 campaign maps active at one time, one for each faction in the game. As you gain more factions you get more challenges from the computer factions and the difficulty goes up. You can start each subsequent battle with variable resources based upon the number of provinces you have conquered. I didn't mean to sound so harsh in my previous reply. My point is that the CTW mode can't be something so awesome as RTW's campaign map. And other, less illustrious attempts by other games have fallen far short. So.... what we have to do is make it unique, but simple, so that excellence in implementation can be achieved.

Yeah, it works great now. I had to remove the generic PNG plugin so that Photoshop is forced to use superPNG. Works perfectly now. -
Here's what I would do: Send 50% females to gather berries; send all cavalry to hunt (chickens, deer, etc.) Use 400 wood and build 4 Houses. While doing that, build 1 Barracks (100 Wood, 100 Stone) You now have 4 houses to train more females and a barracks with which to train more citizen-soldiers. ASAP build a Gymnasion for Super Units. Right now Super Units pretty much pwn all citizen-soldiers (lol, balance, how does it work?!)... Make multiple Gymnasions (because building limits have not been implemented). Currently you can train multiple heroes from the Tholos, but I would agree on some house rules with your opponent that only one of each hero can be alive at once. Remember you can shift-click the button to train 5, 10, 15+ units at once.

Achievements aren't a new concept, while DLC is rather new. If we had a "conquer the world" mode then I would want it to be excellent and not half-assed, like in Rise of Nations (wow, that game's CTW mode sucked). If we can't make it an excellent and fun feature, then I don't want it at all -- I'd rather focus on multiplayer balance and fun features that we can make work reasonably well. Conquer the World sounds like a gigantic feature creep. I'm okay with feature creep, but I could see us working on CTW mode for months and months and still not have a great feature in the end. Games like Rome:Total War built their games with CTW-mode from the ground up, while here CTW mode is essentially an afterthought.

Everything predates every modern story you can think of. You think Wildfire Games first thought of territories and units stationed on walls?

This is most disconcerting. Saving with the SuperPNG plugin uses the Alpha channel as a transparency and does not save the alpha channel like a DDS does. -

If the texture system ur implementing could handle both PNG and TGA, then that would be great (and more flexible). -
Perhaps players could win achievement awards by playing different game-types at different difficulties and with different factions. The same could be said for multiplayer.

My version of Photoshop does not save alpha channels with the PNG, even when I "save for web" with transparency selected. I believe it makes a transparency though, which is something different than a alpha channel apparently. I can reload the PNG and there is no longer an alpha channel there. -

Alright, uh, how are we doing Alpha channels then? Do PNGs save the alpha channel? -
It's also actually a term scientists and engineers used to use.

lol, some amusing ones there.

Numantia and Alesia would be better than A Coruna and Lugdunum.

Anyone able to translate this Spanish one? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lUlKAmsn5N4 This one is fun to watch because the guy is just playing around with the game without any idea what is implemented yet or what to do with some of the buildings and units and things. Very educational to watch someone who doesn't seem to usually play AOE-style games (but has played other RTS games) and see how they react to things. Nevertheless he seems very enthusiastic about the game, which is awesome. This is another one, but no narration. I am making a new version of Arcadia to replace the one in the alpha 1 release. don't worry, it'll be even cooler!

This one is on a 3 LCD monitor setup. I'm jealous! I love the false "HDR" effect from the glare of the monitors on the camera.

You could max pop then send out ur grand armee.

Yeah whenever. Perhaps Tarantum would be another good addition.

I was thinking we could use it for something in-game. Care to post the PSD?
