Ouch.
Once I dropped a surprisingly sharp fork on my foot. Didn't notice anything had happened until I looked down, and my once white sock was blood red all over. So I can understand her pain.
Though to my knowledge, Peltasts never threw forks.

Hugely disappointing.
If this gets in the way of the next AOE, I'll be very angry indeed.

In the game, I'm sure there will be effective ways to make the units look unique, such as body paint. It's certainly working in AOE3: WarChiefs, I'm sure they can appear distinguished in-game.
Impressive display of natives there, especially the Inuit and Hawaiians.
-
Those names aren't definite, just descriptions of the soldier.
I disagree that the chief should be a rifleman. Iroquois chiefs had capes over their right shoulders, like the one in the picture I posted. The sprite you posted just looks like a regular Great Lakes soldier to me, not even necessarily Iroquois.
The Inca also did not have horizontal feather headdresses like the ones pictured in those sprites, they actually had front-to back ones or none at all, if I remember right.

Too lazy to even go to Wikipedia, it seems.
Did I mention they call the undead soldiers in a Greek themed game "legionaries"...?
-
Hope you don't mind, I'm going to post some Iroquois units.

Has any of you ever played God of War?
Finished it three times.
Now that's a good game, but those developers are retarded when it comes to Greek mythology and history. I don't think they even know where Greece is. They sure don't know where Athens is (they have Mount Olympus and a massive desert right next to it in the game )
The concept artists even call Cerberus/Kerberos "Cerebus". This is why I want to be a game developer - so I can whack some sense into Sony.
-
Thanks, man. I'm still working on that first human model.
By the way, this might be a stupid question, but how do you zoom in on any place you want? I can only zoom in on the centre.

I think the Prussians had a colony in Venezuela.

Yeah, I'd like to learn how to use Blender too. I downloaded it today. Apparently it's meant to be really easy, but right now I'm quite confused, to say the least.
For now, I am following this book: http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Blender_3D:_Noob_to_Pro

Any Prussians planned?

Here you go: http://www.gerardbutler.net/300/300_promo_trailer.htm
It's looking good. Not sure about the actor who plays Stelios, though. Not really how I imagined him... still cool.

I think that these Spartans do have beards, I'm not sure though. The hair could probably be more defined by having four locks flowing over their shoulders (and four at the back) as it was, but if that's too difficult or out of the way, then I have no problem with how they are now.
As for the "shaved upper lip" thing... pure myth, likely started by Plutarch or an earlier historian. Although many Spartans did shave their moustaches, so did a lot of other Greeks, and others did indeed have moustaches. The Spartans were no exception. Trust me... I've looked at a lot of Lakedemonian art.

I know a bit about rastafarianism and I have had some experience with cannabis sativa.
I never listened to Marley though... can't get into reggae.
Q: Why were the links deleted?
-
It's a cool painting but there are some mistakes, like they should have dreadlocks rather than just long hair, no linothorax and no lamvtha (unless it's after Plataea and between the Pelopo-Attic wars).
That picture is very famous and is usually one of the first that someone getting into the Spartans will discover. I'm not sure who drew it, it doesn't look like Peter Connolly's work (who drew a very similar Spartan with linothorax).
-
Oh no, I like his bronze Spartan a lot. I just don't like his other three with linothorax... I mean, they're great looking skins, but the inaccuracy kills me.
-
I'll need to reinstall RTW first, then I might download that. I hate those Spartan skins, though.
-
It better be soon, Mythos. This wait was -way- too long.
It's still a pretty good screenshot. But I can't say that the Romans really excite me in the picture at all. They just look rather boring... and I don't think it's because of my Roman hatred, more that there isn't enough variety in the unit choices.
The Celts look cool as always, though. I especially like the naked cavalry. Who is the hero(?) commanding the charge?
-
You kidding? I think they're about AOE3 standard right now, if not even better. Anyway, maybe it's just the screenshots that aren't doing them justice (though I think they look fine).
I was really looking forward to RaF over the period before it's release, but as I learned more about it (AWFUL hero choices, a lot of historical inaccuracy) and after playing the demo, I just thought it wasn't the ancient-based game I really wanted, and had been waiting for since AOE1 started to lose impact. RaF also just seemed to be very much behind more recent RTS games gameplay wise, fairly generic units, lack of food (proves how important it is as a resource in this kind of game) and no huge differences between the four civilizations, bar unit and building appearances. Hero mode can be pretty fun, though.
Anyway, I hope 0 A.D. can fill the gap in the space where a great ancient-based RTS game should be. But I know this'll be a while until it's release, so until then... War Chiefs.

I'd like to know what civs and the like you're planning. I might be interested in joining For Honour and Glory, as I've started to take an interest in modding.
-
No offence, but I don't really see the point in this mod if it's almost identical to AOE3. I mean, if the colonization of Africa, Asia and Oceania is a theme, that's different... but not one just about the Americas again. Sure, you could make it more historically accurate, but AOE3 is already arguably the most accurate pre-WW1 RTS on the market (bar the campaign and some minor mistakes, of course).
I don't think the British had Ruyters either... for one thing their name is Dutch.

Hey, don't buff up the graphics too much... I don't want to have to buy two new graphics cards before seeing the product in all it's intended glory.
