I agree, Rainer. Til then we'll have to settle for the Hellenic peltastai in part 1, but they seem really cool too.
Nice avatar!
-
Can we get any Illyrian helmets? They're always overlooked, but the Illyrian is one of my favourite designs.
-
Very nice! I'm also liking the mining hoplite a lot. Great linothorax skins, Michael.

This is an excellent article, though it would have been nicer to highlight more of the greater achievements of the Celts, such as their impressive pre-Roman roads. More 'misconception' articles about other ancients would also be greatly interesting!

Heheh, I love the Streets of Rage serious... serious nostalgia. Something very retro gaming about 300, which may explain another reason why I've been looking forward to it so much.
Anyway, it's not released for another month or so in Australia... so I'm going to organize a date to go see it, maybe with a few mates. Should be a lot of fun. Thanks for the reviews!
Oh! A question. Are the Thespians in it? There's a page dedicated to their sacrifice in the comic, so I hope they're given respect in the movie, otherwise I'll be a little disappointed. I actually liked the designs of the allied Greeks in the comic more than the Spartans.

As far as editors go, I honestly think AOMTT> AOK by a lot. Though for the limitations of 2D, AoK certainly has a good editor, but there is much more freedom in AOMTT (and as far as I'm concerned, it's also easier to use).
Though I'm still certain that 0AD will have the best editor of them all.

Just some seriously fantastic work. I did notice a few minor problems (those that have been mentioned already), but other than that it was amazing.
And now I crave more.
-
As I said earlier Michael, a fantastic screenshot. And currently my wallpaper!
I'm betting on the Hellenes, as soon as the Spartans crash into the Romans running towards the left phalanx, it'll become very one sided. Unless they use their cavalry to good use, hehe.
Looking forward to the video!

Thank you muchly for the information, Paul.
-
I think he looks old enough... besides, who's going to notice ingame?
Really good. Did the Romans use strapped greaves in this era, though? I think they would be at a disadvantage here as the wrap-around metal ones were much more comfortable for the wearer.
-
Very neat, though I'm a little concerned that they'll look too similar to the other Roman basic units. I'm sure you guys will figure a way out of that, though.
-
Excellent! Looking forward to seeing this guy in game, well done.
If Brendan did any concept work for Hellenic units, I'd love to see them!
-
That Italo-Corinthian helmet looks awesome, though. Excellent work once again, Brendan!

Wow, I can't believe I haven't heard of that book. I'll have to check it out as soon as possible - it looks like the EXACT sort of thing I'd like.
Obviously we could debate on which civilization has positively affected ours the most for years and years, but maybe this could be used as something strong against the Romans - I'll take this, and maybe a falx.
The 'computer' is Greek, but dates to the period of Roman occupation. It's still Greek though, not Roman, so the title is misleading.

I am enraged, that's all I can say.

The hold up at the moment is laying out the cinimatics, triggers and placing the video bits into a compilation that would include sound, introduction, etc...
Remind us to keep you updated and we'll let you know where we stand.
No problem, sounds good.

Mm, so I hate to be annoying - but just when can we expect to see this demo/video/whatchamajig anyway?
I imagine you at least have some idea of the release, though I understand if it's taking too much time just to make this. That said, I'd have to say making a Celts vs Hellenes demo would be a particularly good idea, as you'd be able to get feedback first hand from the players - hardcore and casual alike. Of course I imagine this has been discussed before within the company, though I thought it'd be worth a mention anyway. Even just showing samples of the civs would be good enough, frankly.

Achilles, if waiting for 0 A.D. is the centre of your life, then maybe I can understand why you suddenly made that change of thought. However, since I'm sure that it's not, and it's merely a game you're just anticipating and like to check on every now and again, I'd have to say I find your reaction stupid and quite unnecessary - perhaps even morale breaking for the developers.
Reconsider.

I am glad I made this thread.

It would have been nice to see a new screenie to tide us little people over for a while longer.
Just a suggestion of course.
-
Since heroes can go in formation with other units, I would assume Super Units can too.
I can't confirm exactly how to micro formations, but I guess it'd be something of standard RTS fare.
-
I thought it did have heavy requirements.

One day we'll steal the date of your holiday!

Awesome, I was worried that he'd be too slow as a phalangite to effectively use his bonus. Will the heroes get any special abilities, ala hero attacks in AOM and AOE3?

I was talking to Paul yesterday about how more of these would be great reads. Especially with '300' being released, articles on the Persians and Hellenes would be wonderful.
