My good 'ol Radeon 9200 needs to be replaced... It makes BF2 look like @#$%... I know that a Radeon 9800 or a nVidia 6800 would really do the trick but they - uh - cost abuncha money that I don't want to spend. So how 'bout the nVidia 5500 with 256 ram? It's like $50-100 less than the other two cards I mentioned, but will I be able to max out the lighting and shadowing settings for BF2?
-
What is a good nVIDIA card that will last me atleast for the next two years has 256 megs of ram, is NOT a geforce 4, I want an AGP, and will cost about $150 - $200. Thanks.

Dreams of Radeon 9800 with 256 ram.

Most likely this topic has been discussed before, but...
I have recently heard alot on the news and on other fourms what a mistake attacking Iraq was. I disagree:
A. I believe that they DID have weapons of mass destruction - NOT NUKES, but they really did have chemical and biological weapons. They also had long range sub-nuclear missles.
B. One question I ask myself and others is: "If we're all wrong and they're right, then why are they killing more Americans per day than in Vietnam?"
C. Is there underhanded politcal crap going on like alot of people say, I think yes, but I also think that we were justified in attacking Iraq.
That's my opinion... what's yours?
-
I'm you're typical red blooded american 17 yr old... so I want a hummer - sighs - I still have about 60K to save... L O L! Anyway, nice car there rohirwire.

I just saw a commercial on TV for yet ANOTHER MoH. They're calling this one european assault. I'm just curious if anyone ever liked MoH. I played the demo of MoH:AA and wasn't impressed. This is like the 4th or 5th MoH. So, is MoH really that good?

You misunderstand... the new hard drive is fine and it's formatted(C:). It's the old hard drive (D:) that is saying it's not formatted. If I format the drive... then I'd lose all my old files right?
-
Ok... I have a new HD! Unfortunately, the other HD won't allow itself to be opened. It's currently the slave drive. When I attempt to open it I recieve:
The disk in drive D is not formatted.
Do you want to format it now?
Crap.... Does anyone know of a program that will lemme get those files back!
-
CodeOp... you have a promising future as a geek! I checked the event viewer and bingo it's all over in there with bad blocks. So, does anyone know where to buy a good hard drive, or what do to about my problem?

I'm having a wierd slowness with my comp. It takes FOREVER to boot up - appx. 6X as much. Game levels will take forever to load etc. BUT, there is an exception. Sometimes, it will run smoothly. I've run Norton fully updated complete system scan, microsoft fully updated anti spyware, ran a defrag(which took 13 hours!), did a major purge of unnecessary files and programs (which freed up more than 10 gigs), checked disk for errors. With all that it still is having problems. This started about 2 weeks ago. Oh, and I doubt it's spyware because taskman says i've got 30 processes running.
Comp Specs:
AMD Athlon 3000+
1.5 gig DDR SDRAM
ATI Radeon 9200
160 gig HD
Win XP home

So guys, what up with the Naval Aspect of 0 A.D.? I really haven't seen or heard much about it. I feel that naval warfare has been extreemly innacurately portaied in nearly every RTS game. I really hope that 0 A.D. doesn't follow that tradition. So, I have some suggestions:
1. Fleets should be placed in formations just like infantry.
2. Ships should be MUCH larger (I understand that it is impossible to get the correct scale do to map size issues but.... i think they should be atelast a little larger)
3. Ships should hold a garrison count.
4. Ships should have an upgrade system - instead of building a catapult galley, simply upgrade individual normal galley to catapult status. (or ballista increased garrison count... etc depending on civ.)
5. Ships should be boardable. Example: you have 12 units garrisoned on a galley and you attack an enemy heavy galley that has only 4 troops... a little on board skirmish is fought and your remaining guys take the heavy galley.) You would simply choose the stance of your ship: Defensive, Agressive, Stand Ground, or Boarding stance. If placed on boarding stance it will auto board the first enemy ship.

This is for all you Call of Duty gamers!
I have made an awesome find, in my opinion anyways. All the credit goes to JB from www.mapsnmods.org.
If you would like to play single player CALL OF DUTY missions with CALL OF DUTY: UNITED OFFENSIVE stuff, then do this:
YOU MUST HAVE BOTH CALL OF DUTY AND CALL OF DUTY: UNITED OFFENSIVE.
Start up Call of Duty: United Offensive SINGLE PLAYER, then press the ~ key, this is called the console, and type in /map redsquare. This will load the redsquare mission from Call of Duty into United offensive. You will be able to sprint, cook nade, etc etc etc
It works with all the maps I've tried, so here's the full list of maps incase you need it:
airfield
berlin
brecourt
burnville
carride
chateau
dam
dawnville
factory
hurtgen
pathfinder
pavlov
pegasusday
pegasusnight
powcamp
railyard
redsquare
rocket
sewer
ship
stalingrad
tankdrivecountry
tankdrivetown
trainstation
training
truckride

The omega drivers were WORSE! Indeed, it had BOTH problems! Don't worry... some1 else told me about them b4 u did Anyway, tell me how to install it... maybe that is the problem.
-
What games do you play? Also, what is your name in those games? I was just curious.
I play:
Americas Army - name = @Ranger
Battlefield 1942 (and most of the mods and both Xpacs!) - name = Sturmtrupen and Pancor Jackahmmer
Empires: Dawn of the Modern World - name = Lt Swellick
Rise of Nations: Thrones and Patriots (not online) - name = Lord of Victory
Future games
EVERYTHING I CAN GET MY HANDS ON!
primarily that means BF2 and AoE III

Yeah.. nice to see u again darkangel! I have two ram slots one of which is filled with 512.
Computer
eMachines T3065
ATI Radeon 9200
512 DDR Ram
160 gig hard drive
AMD Athlon XP 3000+
XP Home SP2 Operating System
I would need a 1 gig stick. I could easily just buy a 512 for a total of 1 gig. I think that might get out of date b4 too long, and I really want to play BF2 which looks like it's going to need lotz of RAM!
-
I want to buy a 1024 stick of ram to add to my 512 to get a whopping 1536! It's kinda expensive though... So, why not buy a less expensive one - http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc....-211-131&depa=1 , but why is it less expensive than this: http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc....-146-197&depa=1
To me it's all the same. BUT, I don't want a piece of junk. Would it be better to just chip in the extra 53 bucks? Does it matter? Which of the two is better or is there an even better way to go?

I am having problems with my Radeon 9200. In BF1942 I will have triangles on maps that are just not there (see through) and they generaly run in a long line end to end. So... I go to update my card with the latest drivers. BINGO -disappearing earth gone. BUT in all 3D games I have lousy textures on vehicles (RTS and FPS games) and wierd textures on weapons, vehicles and, buildings in BF1942 and the same in Americas Army. The 'wierd' or 'lousy' textures look like they were overlayed several times or that they went on the model upside down. I've tried LOTS of different settings, but nothing at all changes it. How could I put a screen of it up? Please help!
Computer
eMachines T3065
ATI Radeon 9200
512 DDR Ram
160 gig hard drive

I have an awesome wallpaper that I just made... How do I post it?
-
I installed the latest Catalyst drivers for my Radeon 9200 yesterday. Since then I have been having texture issuses. I get 'choppy' textures or there's repeated textures on a model - it's hard to explain - it's like there's the side of a building, and instead of just the texure for that building, there's likee 500 mini texures of the bigger texure that covers the building (all in symetrical order). It effects only weapons, vehicles, and buildings. The other thing is that on vehicles, it has this wierd look from a distance, but as u get closer it 'clears up' and looks normal. I've played it in both AAO and BF42 and both have the same problem.
Here's my system specs:
Operating System: Windows XP Home Edition (5.1, Build 2600) Service Pack 2 (2600.xpsp_sp2_rtm.040803-2158)

It looks like we're going to see some incredible gaming this year with Age of Empires III, Empire Earth 2 and Battlefield 2... I'm worried about my graphics card though, I have the Radeon 9200 with 256 RAM and I am unsure if it will be able to run any of the new games. Do you think that I'll be able to manage or will I need to invest in a new card, and if so what do you recommend?
-
YO all! I'm having some difficulty with Battlefield 1942... so I wanted to see if you could help me. Alright, a friend and I like to play COOP in BF42, but we have SERIOUS lagg problems. We both have DSL connections - he has a modem and I operate off of a 2Wire router with an excellent wireless connection at 11 megs per second. Here's my comps specs - his are comperable but he has onboard video(ATI).
Operating System: Windows XP Home Edition (5.1, Build 2600) Service Pack 2 (2600.xpsp_sp2_rtm.040803-2158)
System Manufacturer: eMachines
System Model: T3065
BIOS: Phoenix - AwardBIOS v6.00PG
Processor: AMD Athlon XP 3000+, MMX, 3DNow, ~2.2GHz
Memory: 512MB DDR RAM at 333 MHz
Page File: 209MB used, 1040MB available
DirectX Version: DirectX 9.0c (4.09.0000.0904)
Card name: RADEON 9200 SERIES
Manufacturer: ATI Technologies Inc.
Chip type: RADEON 9200 AGP (0x5961)
DAC type: Internal DAC(400MHz)
Display Memory: 256.0 MB
I did some testing around with settings and at the absolute lowest (640x400x16 @ 60, and all the lowest in game sound and video settings, with 2x anisotropic and 2x anti-aliasing, with all the other settings at the lowest) and recieved between 60 and 98 fps with an average of about 90. When I put all ingame and grahpics card to the highest I recieved between 20 and 40 fps with an average of 25.
As a side note: Only he can host because for some reason he cannot connect to my game.

ROFLOL, some of these answers are funny. LOL no offence... but.. LOL - rohwire's done the best so far. I'm going to look up all the answers today. but before I do, i'll try to answer my own questions.
1. ME119, built by Heinkle(SP?)
2. Hitler ordered 9 Polish army uniforms, then dressed some prisoners (german thieves murders etc) and had them shot in a forest. He had ppl take pics of them and said Poland had sent these men to attack Germany.
3. That'd be the initals of the makers: ST (I think it was) Stanford (can't remember his last name...), Edward (can't remember his last name either.
4. Kharchov
5. Graziani
6. Sicily - there was 1 more division than there was in D-Day
7. 30,000 sq Mi in FRANCE
8. 2000
9. 500 - who cares about exact numbers - but i think it was 536
10. oppenheimer
11. betty
12. 1,600,000
13. Chindits were commando units that fought in the Far East. They were named Chindits because the of some sort of statue in a temple that they used as a HQ
14. Rangers were modeled off of a unit of men that existed 200 years earlier that fought in the French and Indian war. They were called Roger's Rangers. Roger was the leader of the outfit
15. 12 in thick. but because of the slant in the armour it was 15 inches
16. um... maybe 300
17. His orders were to not to surrender until he ran out of bullets. Pausser surrendered when he ran out of artillery shells.
18. Somewhere in the 2000 range
19. that'd be Omar Bradley
20. lemme think lemme think I know this.... OK OK i sort of know it. he shot down 243 planes, and his name was Max Eckerman? or something like that.
Well... there's my 20. Remember - these are my answers they could be wrong. Darn! can you imagine getting a bad score on YOUR OWN TEST. maybe it's ok... don't know... LOL

Is buying graphic cards off of ebay a good idea? I mean I can get a nVidia 6600 for ALOT less on ebay than anywhere else. Also, is PNY a good card maker?
