  1. Thank you I will, although Bryce is known to be utter crap at exporting, always was in all versions... Btw i am very excited today cause a short story of mine will be published in a newspaper of London (one of the diasporic ones). It is my fourth ever published story in a periodical/paper (i write psychological fiction)... I am still anxious about it...
  2. I finished the elven set I still am interested in helping with the strategic map. Perhaps a walkthrough on how to get from a finished 3d model to a graphic on that map would be helpful, unless you feel it already is doomed to fail due to wonderful-exporter Bryce
  3. Thank you both I did try to export into 0 ad format, but Bryce is crap as an exporter- always has been- and the file was crippled :/ Problem is i only am able to use intricate lighting (and to some extent textures, although keep in mind none of these are uv-mapped) in Bryce, and not in 3dsmax which i also can use somewhat... Here is a collection of some of the recent work: I had a look at the link you gave about the strategic map. Looks wonderful, but it seems you use 3d models there too, not static images, so i am not sure if i can help...
  4. Well if you are working on having campaign maps (or have them already) i am willing to help with static building gfx on them Currently creating a High elven set:
  5. Thanks The set view looks great, although i think too much effort would be wasted if it is permantently used (?) since so many artists (and programmers) secured a full 3d environment Anyway, i moved on to a new style, and here is something that may seem familiar since a lot of the models were reconstructions of 0 AD concept art originals!
  6. Hi, and thank you for the welcome Unfortunately i still use Bryce 6, which is crap for exporting models. Bryce 7 in theory could export to what 0 ad uses, but as usual it is crippled with bugs and essentially cannot export. Moreover i am not sure if my models would look as good in larger scale, for i do not uv-map them; these are all directly applied textures i am using. Maybe when i spend more time using 3dsmax (if i will that is) things will change. 0 AD looks amazing btw
  7. Thank you all Btw this is a 3d model, it was not created in msPaint, although i edited some parts in paint Also here is a new model i made, this is Mythos Ruler's Hellenic tower:
  8. Great Btw this is how they look in a larger size:
  9. I always mention where i got the concept art from, in fact i just started a new thread over at the civIII forum to mention this place as a source of concept art of high level
  10. Also, i had asked this before, the last time i was here, but wanted to make sure it still holds true: Can i use graphic screens from 0 ad as concept art for my own 3d modeling? I make all models from nothing, but i need concept art, and from what i see 0 ad has a massive amount of excellent quality graphics Also if there is any map of buildings anywhere (i am checking the screenshots page for the time being) it would REALLY help me create! Edit: you may recognize these too, the hispanic dock and the greek fort
  11. Glad to find you again Yes, it is a different skill than making full 3d objects for 3d-environment in a game, since the latter have to have less details and more texture work. I on the contrary use basic textures, and carve the details with the polygon count rising. Maybe in the future i will try the other approach too, although since this is just a hobby to me i am not sure i will ever get to the point of producing stuff for full 3d games...
  12. Hello again, i used to post here for a little while some time ago. I would like to showcase what i made from (mostly) concept art from 0 AD (the Greek set at least). You might recognize some of the buildings in this small scale I am always looking for concept art for my 3d isometric rendered miniature creations. I recall this forum has a river of excellent art flowing, so i am happy to be back
  13. Anyone who can answer my question? Currently working on a bunch of fantasy stuff. Orc and Hobbit towns
  14. Thank you Chakakhan Yes it seems this is a nice forum.
  15. I have no idea. Only know that the majority of unit-makers in Civ3 use it, but there polycount is no problem since the unit is in pseudo-3d anyway.
  16. Hi, i am not sure what most people here use, but in the community i am a member of for years most people use Poser for human/humanoid units.
  17. Once i figure out how to add a building i could be of some use to this mod if you want my help, i have modeled some Byzantine Buildings, such as the Holy Apostles of Thessalonike (image below)
  18. Ok, i now installed the full version Problem is i do not know where the files for the buildings are, and what i have to do to add one (or replace an existent one) in the game. Any help? I will try one of my more intricate models to report back on possible lag.
  19. Hello, i thought i could introduce myself, since i have a few posts in the forum already I am 32 years old, a philosophy graduate and author of fiction. My main hobby is 3d gfx creation. I hope i can someday contribute something to 0 AD, although my experience up to now is with 2d or pseudo-3d games, like Civilization 3. Anyway, hope to be talking to you again, take care, Kyriakos
  20. Oh, ok Mythos_Ruler: i cannot seem to find where the models folder is in my 0AD installation. It seems it only has four files. Did i install the wrong one? I thought that the other one was needed only by people playing with the code, but it seems i was wrong (?). As for the castle, if it is to be used in Zero AD i will have to model its two remaining sides a bit more, they have no windows currently.
  21. You mean 15 K Polygons? Still is too little, since Bryce turns everything into a polygon hell, and this model has around 100K polygons now... More visible here: I guess i could try to substitute some details which are modeled, with textures. But anyway this is a medieval building so it has no place in 0 AD.
  22. I see. I will have to experiment a bit then Here is what my buildings (well the Euro castle) look like in large size:
  23. Another thing i would like to ask is how many polygons is the typical 0 AD building? Most of my models are around 10K Polygons, if they are detailed, and 5K if more simple. Bryce increases the count in relation to other programs, like 3dsmax. Some very intricate models rise up to 500K (for example my model of the Hagia Sophia).
  24. Thank you This is my ancient Greek set, in which i used as concept art three buildings from 0 AD (two small houses and the Fort) : You can see my full library at http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?p=5794679#post5794679
