Some image of the models i have ready:
-
I cannot find the Bake option. I read in some wiki blender pages that it should be in the bottom of the Render menu, but maybe in Cycles render it is not there?
-
Seems simple, i will get around to texturing in this way one of the models and then upload it here. Currently i am working on my Byzantine set, i saw some thread about the Empire, not sure if that project is still active though
-
I use Blender version 2.6.3 Will have a look, thanks...
-
Interesting. How do i "bake" the textures all in one image? Never done that before.
-
Hi Pureon I will have a look, although my work uses blender internal textures (easier for me to manipulate) and although by now i can uv-map, it is tedious and not really needed for most of my work. Which is why i mentioned the strategic map. Also you already have some great modellers around anyway The finished Greek and Mauryan sets:

Thank you

Hi Ludo, thank you Those you quoted were made with Bryce, and cannot be exported. I am now using Blender. Some image of a Mauryan set i am making, using concept art found in this forum
-
If they are needed. However i do not model anything in the scale of the game map buildings in 0 ad. Which is why i mentioned the old comment about the strategic map city models And civIII currently uses such graphics, by others and me. We are full 3d by now.
-
Hi, these were made as sets for civIII. After some discovery it was possible to have huge cities in that game
-
Hello again By now i have become reasonably familiarised with Blender. I can export collada files, and recall that you once wanted some strategic map city models (campaign map). Here is what my cities currently look like: I hope you are all well
-
Thank you Feneur I am currently creating a city with a castle. Will have to model a barbican as well. Still learning about Blender rendering and lighting...

A week later, i am a bit more familiar with Blender. Here are two of my models:

How does one make a statue the easy way?
Kyriakos replied to Kyriakos's topic in Game Development & Technical Discussion
A bit later, i polished the model somewhat, but still no statue there :/ And since i am on it, anyone know how to sepearate objects in groups so as to color them the same way faster, or to shrink.enlarge them etc? -
How does one make a statue the easy way?
Kyriakos replied to Kyriakos's topic in Game Development & Technical Discussion
Nice statue, looks like it took some work though and i am lazy Also i would be needing a specifically ancient greek hoplite or deity looking statue. I guess there must be some easy way to make it using treachery and images -
Ok, got Blender and learned the very basics... Here is my model at the moment: It desperately needs some beautification... I am thinking of four statues, but i would like to ask if there is an easy way to make them. In Bryce i would use the symmetrical latice object, and load an image onto it. But here i am not sure how it is done. ps: sorry for the second thread, the other one was about 3ds max while now i am set to learn Blender

3dsmax 2010 and 0 AD

Ok, here is my first ever Blender model, which is not that special: Will have to add some more detail -
3dsmax 2010 and 0 AD
Kyriakos replied to Kyriakos's topic in Game Development & Technical Discussion
Bryce's problem is that it does not export the full objects, but a part of them, so it is pointless to try to use it to export. Too bad cause it has by far the best interface in all 3d modellers i tried @Oal: thanks, found it I am currently looking at texturing tutorials for blender, cause again it is difficult to understand without them how to make a basic texture... -
3dsmax 2010 and 0 AD
Kyriakos replied to Kyriakos's topic in Game Development & Technical Discussion
Well i dled Blender and had a try. I managed to make a simple ancient temple with it. The interface looks a bit counter-intuitive though... Does anyone know where the boolean operations menu is in Blender? I want to group a negative and positive object so as to subtract the negative from the positive. -
I am thinking of moving my skills to 3ds max 2010, while up to now i was using Bryce 6.1. Bryce is ok for pseudo-3d gfx, since it is horrible at exporting the 3d models. I have used 3ds max before, so am not utterly a novice in it, although it will take a couple of weeks to be able to produce equal quality work as in Bryce. But the good news (i guess) is that 3ds max is a great exporter, so i should be able to post some stuff for 0 AD. Is there anyone else using 3ds max 2010? And if so can you direct me to some tutorial for getting from a finished model in that program, to a graphic that works in 0 AD? I hope that this time i will be able to actively help, instead of just being inspired by the graphics of this game

http://www.eleftheria.co.uk/ It is a local paper of the greek community (or rather focuses on a part of the greek and greek/cypriot community). It was published two weeks ago.
-
Thank you, yes it did, but unfortunately the people in London were too cheap to send me a copy :/ Anyway, it will get published again elsewhere. That was a first for me, in a foreign newspaper
