  1. My dad wrote a paper regarding his engineering-centric scientific hypothesis about how both the obelisks and the pyramids were built, but he will not attempt to publish the paper for he fears being labelled a "pyramidiot" by the academic and professional archaeology community. Despite my dad having Master of Science degrees in Physics and Engineering, in their opinion if you don't have a doctorate and you've never been to Egypt and you've never participated in an excavation, you're just some nobody-kook.

  2. Berg says he couldn't afford the fee or fire insurance.
Since nobody else has said it, "Berg, get a job!"
He says he lost everything in last month's fire.
Last month's fire? He's either incompetent with microwaves or he's a pyromaniac.
Fire Chief Jerry Jensen says he doesn't want to see that happen again. He says a firefighter's job is to "put out fires, not to watch them burn."
    Isolated incident.
  3. I don't subscribe to the dictation of morality and religion to children. I advocate the provision of insight relevant to being decisive, intelligent, and responsible. Our decisions define us, not others.

    Think critically. Act rationally.

    Be proactive.

Take action when you can, not when you need to.

Be wary of your thoughts, and those of others.

Ideas have consequences. Whether you realize it or not, you become what you believe.

    Encourage strength.

Great leadership is characterized not by power and charisma, but by humility and firm resolve.

    Be a 360° Perceiver.

    Challenge conventional wisdom.

  4. I don't get it, why should we have questions when we can't test the game?

If you have any questions about testing (e.g., the lifecycle of a build, the stages of testing, the application process, tester and testing requirements, the testing schedule, how testing works, why testing works, who does testing, where does testing occur, what is actually tested and by who), direct those questions to me through this thread.

By the way, I don't understand what you mean by "we can't test the game". Elaborate, please.

  5. Note to developers: Please use the Quality Assurance Department Forum's "Frequently Asked Questions" thread for your concerns and questions. This thread is for the community.

Those concerned with the latest happenings regarding 0 A.D. should be aware that I will be managing Wildfire Games First-Party Quality Assurance (FPQA) department, including all production-level testing. Any and all questions about testing 0 A.D. should be directed to me. I am working on private and public FAQs documents in order to address concerns from both developers and players.

This thread may serve as a direct link to me for your questions. Please use this thread well, and please do not ask if you can be in the test group.

Do you have any questions concerning 0 A.D. testing?

  6. Since I used to be heavily involved with philosophy (as a philosopher), I might as well provide my opinion here despite disliking such discussions. (By the way, many philosophers would disagree with describing philosophy as intellectual... for different reasons, of course. While philosophical topics sometimes necessitate critical thinking, philosophy as a study generally does not effect significant practical change.)

How is "atheism" defined? To understand the definition requires understanding that there are variations of atheism as well as multiple perceptions of atheism. There isn't just one atheism where all atheists "believe that gods do not exist". That's a generalization combined with a subfactual inference. I identify as an agnostic atheist, but I do not believe in the nonexistence of gods. To believe in such a thing would require that I previously believed in a god or gods. I was born without theistic beliefs and that is how I remain. I do not actively posit that gods do not exist, and I do not actively posit that gods exist. These are the extremes of atheism and theism, which only appear common because believers (whether they believe in gods or believe that gods do not exist) tend to be the most vocal.

I spent around six months working with a number of editors in improving the atheism article at Wikipedia. Today, the article is certainly heading in the direction I wanted; although, many of my contributions of content are now unrecognizable. If you intend to hold a discussion about atheism and theism, you need to first understand what you're talking about. I don't mean that negatively, but it's true that many people simply don't understand what they label "atheism" or "theism". I highly recommend reading that article completely. I'm reasonably certain that its information will provide you with a new perception of these matters, if you choose to accept the information. If not, check out the references.

  7. I attended AUVSI's 7th International Autonomous Underwater Vehicle Competition in 2004 which was held at the Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center in San Diego, California. None of the vehicles worked correctly. The contest seemed to be judged on how long a vehicle worked properly before going completely nuts. The vehicles had to ping the environment to seek out items and move to those items' locations. A Navy SEAL Master Diver was employed to fetch downed vehicles in the extremely large pool that was specifically engineered for use of sonar.

The Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International (AUVSI) operates several student competitions for Aerial Robotics, Unmanned Aerial (UAV), Unmanned Ground (UGV), and Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUV). The technology for vehicular autonomy really isn't there yet, hence these competitions.
