General Chat Guidelines

Recommended Posts

This is in addition to the Wildfire Games Community Guidelines

Have a look at some general tips on how to be a good and well-respected forumer here

What is General Chat ?

People get along better when they know each other well. We get to know each other by discussing hobbies, music tastes, favourite films and pets, stuff like that. It's not appropriate to post topics like this within the Wildfire Games Community Forums, so we have General Chat. It's been likened in the past to the office or game water-cooler where people gather for a break from work or gaming. General Chat is essential to the progression of Gaming as and helps to enhance the overall essence of the community.

Guidelines For General Chat

Throughout the Community we have a 'respect each other' policy. That applies in this forum too, particularly when a discussion is of a sensitive nature.

We feel the need to apply strict guidelines to prevent insults and subsequent flame wars throughout the forums in addition to the Community Guidelines. The nature of General Chat dicatates that additional guidelines are required in order to keep the peace.

With immediate effect, the following will apply to the General Chat Forum:

1. Any political or religious threads will be moved to the "Hall of Intellectuals" Forum without warning, as stricter rules concerning the approach of religion and politics exist there.

2. It is easy to get off-topic when chatting generally. However, if we feel something is drastically off-topic a warning to keep the thread clean and on topic will then be posted by a non-participating member of staff. Off-topic is okay, so long as it is not drastically. Please start a new thread if you feel your approach is too Off-topic.

3. If anything is posted after this warning, which refers to the Off-Topic posts in any way, the thread might be closed and an 'official' warning will be handed out to the poster(s) of such 'after-warning-posts'.

If you feel the need to draw the immediate attention of a member of staff to a thread, please do not hesitate to use the Report button feature.

If anybody wishes to contest the action taken, they may do so by contacting either the staff member who dealt with it or myself (via Private Message).

Please send me a private message if you have any questions about that.
