Location:

New Jersey, USA

Availability:

20 hours per week, possibly subject to change in the near future.

Age:

30

Skills and Experience:

Finished Master's level graduate studies in History.

Writing, while required in my scholastic work, is somethong of a hobby of mine- I have also made some relatively volunteer contributions to tabletop gaming books, the currently published contributions being in Wardogs by Majestic Twelve Games

Motivation:

Aside from my love of history and writing in general, while other aspects of history are my specialty, I continue to study the civilizations of the period typically associated with the period of classical antiquity as a hobby, and the chance to contribute to a game based in that era is too much to pass up.

Personality:

Enthusiastic about history, gaming, an any combination of the two.

Short Essay:

I found out about Wildfire Games through my semi-regular searches on the open-source gamng scene, which i have enjoyed for a fair amount of time. This is the first tie, however, that a projet has interested me enouh not just to play but to actually contribute- whiole the game does bear ome superficial similarities to the Age of Empires, what got me intrigued upon playing was the greater fidelity to historical terms and general accuracy that could only come from having people involved who had put a good deal of effort reaseaching the eras in question. Aside from any sort of personal accomplishement I hope to gain from contributing to such a project, I do want to gain some experience in assisting with software projects.

Interests and Hobbies:

Aside from video gaming, I'm also an avid tabletop gamer, which ncludes both tabletop wargaming and tabletop RPGs. I also do a great deal of reading, when I have he time and inclination.

Community:

I frequent the mj12games forums, rpgnet, and mahq.

Favorite Game:

My favorite current game would probably be Mount & Blade, and overall I'm a fan of Age of Empires, as well as Indie games, such as La-Mulana.

Work Examples:

Unfortunately, much of my Undergraduate and Graduate work was lost in a system crash a few years ago. Abut the only thing that survived was my Graduate Thesis, which is probably not what is being looked for.

Sorry it took a bit to get back to all of you. Going through what's there, it seems that what's most needed right now is updating the technical design docs that are still relevant to the project. While the site says the docs are in the process of being updated, I'd like to do anything I can to help move it along.

Secondly, since the game is campaign-less at the moment, I think that a multiplayer/gameplay tips section might be warranted, if not now then sometime in the future, especially since there is the (admittedly slim) possibility that people will be coming to this as their first RTS. Plus, as I was a battle.net and usenet regular back when the original Starcraft released, I was bombarded with stories of people who had finished the single-player campaign but were getting stomped against real people.

Sounds great, and yeah, any help we can get to update the documents is great as documentation is not the first priority of anyone else at the moment so it's done fairly sporadically.

In either case, I would like for you to go register at Trac (http://trac.wildfiregames.com/register ) if you haven't already and start working on a page you find interesting. We've already had two applicants for this position leave as they realized they didn't have the time to work on the project, and while that was due to changing life situations it's something I'd not want to have to go through again ;) So it's better if you start working somewhere and then we can gradually give you more responsibilities etc :) We can use this thread for communication in the mean time or MSN/IRC. Does that sound ok to you? A suggestion for a place to start would be the http://trac.wildfiregames.com/wiki/Manual_BasicGameplay page, but you're of course free to work on whichever page you want, any updated documentation is better than no updated documentation.
