Mythos_Ruler
Should I make a sub-forum here for Artwork contributions and tasks? Or should we use Trac?
k776
I can make a "Artwork" ticket type on Trac to help filter through them from code change tickets. Think that would help?Edit: There is already a "Game Art" component on Trac which helps to sort the tickets. Is there a reason Trac isn't working for you? Mythos_Ruler
I just don't think artists would be keen to use Trac.
fcxSanya
Trac is better to have all tasks in one place. But I agree with Michael:I just don't think artists would be keen to use Trac.I think trac is not too comfortable for artists. Also some time ago there was there was some not actual old art tasks on trac (see for example http://trac.wildfiregames.com/ticket/401#comment:3, http://trac.wildfiregames.com/ticket/286#comment:8, http://trac.wildfiregames.com/ticket/289#comment:3).One more note, we (programmers) sometime created both ticket (to keep track on changes and submit patches) and forum topic to discuss design, UI layout, or even implementation details. Pureon
I'm happy using the Trac - as long as the increased usage doesn't interfere with programming? We don't want 2 people working on the same unit/texture without knowing. I'm working on a few units for 0AD, but there is no way for the community to know until they are released.
Kimball
It's not that Trac is "uncomfortable" for artists, it's more of a matter of convenience. It'd be great to keep things all in one place, but Trac was designed with code in mind. Many of the parameters and the concepts of tickets in and of itself are simply not coherent with art-related tasks. Tickets usually apply to bugs, while art is developed as needed. Very seldom does a bug occur in art.I'm not opposed to the idea of using Trac for artists, but I feel like simply inputting and maintaining current art tasks into Trac would be somewhat of a waste of time. Shield Bearer
I agree with Bob...a list of things needed to be done and thats all i need, though others may like a different approach.
Mythos_Ruler
We could make a subforum and use it like a "community task forum."
Shield Bearer
yeah, i guess that would work.
Kimball
But don't do a new topic for each task. I tried that once a long time ago and it just got messy. Group them with similar tasks (i.e. Celtic Buildings, Roman Helmets, Greek Navy etc.).
Mythos_Ruler
Right. Sounds reasonable.
