Guard highlight not working?

Hi,

I'm new to the game (and R.T.S in general), so I don't really know if I'm doing something wrong, as I'm still learning the game and the controls.

I can't get the guard highlight to work or at least I don't know what I'm supposed to see when pressing the hotkeys.

I'm talking about these two hotkeys:

PageUp with units selected: Highlight the unit(s)/structure(s) guarded by the selection.

Quote

PageDown with units/structures selected: Highlight the unit(s) guarding the selection.

Here is what I do:

• Click on a soldier unit
• Press (hold) G
• Right-click on a structure (The pointer turns into a blue shield)
• At this point, the soldier appears to be guarding the structure (the shield in the soldier panel is now crossed out)

The problem is that I don't see any highlight when pressing PageDown/PageUp with the unit/structure selected.

Is this feature broken, or am I using it incorrectly?

Hello loforox and welcome to the forums!

I have to admit, I never used this feature. But after consulting the hotkeys menu and the tooltips I still understand it like you and can reproduce it (Alpha 27), that no highlighting is happening. Hopefully some other forum users may help us out.

I don't really know but generaly we use for guard a unit.. but is very rare, i don't know what the goal of this posture for a building? maybe defend it then repear if need? no idea

For me it looked like it doesn't work for guarding an unit as well.
