Recycling after destroying a structure

Recommended Posts

Resource management is important in any RTS, I only found one result with the query “recycling”, but it's not exactly related to what I was looking for.

In the game, we have to move buildings, to better occupy space, so why not recuperate some of the materials already used, when we destroy a structure, something like 10%?

This topic comes up from time to time, so far no consensus to implement it has resulted from that.

Can't remember the last time I had to "move" a building. Depending on the civ I know what I want to build, so I try to plan my lots accordingly.

I believe this occurs only as kind of "loot" when destroying your enemy's buildings (and killing some enemy soldiers as well) plus when you kill someone carrying goods (workers, women, traders, ships). This is oit particularly recycling as I believe it is not related to the original cost of a unit/building.

OK, well, the original question was about "recycling" your own resources when taking down your own building. I don't think there is any recovery of cost in this case.

Too bad: assume you defined a building (selected the place but did not yet start actually building it) but it is accidentally in the wrong place and you want to "move" it, i.e.  destroy it and rebuild it at another place. In this case I believe the invest for the first selected site is lost. Right?

Also if you conquer an enemy building and then destroy it, there is no benefit except that your enemy does not have this building anymore.

A little recycling bonus would be nice in both cases...

As long as the construction was not finished, you get back a portion of the resources, depending on how far the building process has proceeded.

So if you place a foundation and instantly delete it, you have built 0% of the building and get back 100% of the resources.

If you only notice you want to delete the building, after it has been 70% completed, you only get back 30% of the resources.

It does not even matter if an enemy destroyed the foundation or you deleted it; If you place a foundation in the direction of your enemy and he destroys it instantly (e.g. with his scout), you get back 100% of the resources.

This is true. If we can loot enemy buildings, why not our own buildings that we dont use anymore?

Also, there have been many cases in history where the stones of some older buildings were used in the construction of new ones, afaik.
