I agree with sneaky_squirrel about the metal sprite, gather rates, and corrals.

Is there a specific reason why you are limiting the distance units can collect resources from buildings? In games such as AoE, I start out collecting resources close to resource buildings, but as the resources become depleted in that area, my gatherers spread out. I feel limiting the gathering distance will turn the focus more toward micro-managing gathers, than the "set it and forget it" style of gathering many players are used to.
