jezz
Hi,0.A.D screenshots & movie trailers are really breathtaking. What about releasing some game trailer - not playable demo showing some battle. It can be used as graphics benchmark (may be it can later became part of phoronix test suite). One can test if his or her system is good enough for playing 0 A.D. (this may change in time, of course).YoursJezz
feneur
Would you care to explain your thoughts a bit more? A (video I guess, though that's where I'm lost) trailer that's to be used for benchmarking? I must be missing something as that doesn't sound logical at all. jezz
My idea is to release binary instead of movie. This binary will be executable, which will show some battle. It will be non-playable demo.
feneur
Ah, ok, we'll most likely not release anything like that as we'll focus on getting an actual game out as soon as possible. 0 A.D. will however be released as Open Source as soon as we've got some basic things fixed (partly some things having to do with licenses, and partly fixing some programming related stuff) so anyone who knows how to compile/program can make something like that himself. neonardo
Are you talking about 3DMark type benchmarking videos?
Aeros
We would rather release the game itself, rather than putting out a benchmark. As we add new code and features performance is always in flux anyway. But that is a good idea, we could arrange an ingame scene and have it log the FPS so people can benchmark with 0 A.D. When its already out I mean.
Apomonomenos
Well, I did hear about Mythos and ppe(?) Did a battle, and all you are missing are the seige, but that was a while back, so maybe you guys are further...
feneur
Well, I did hear about Mythos and ppe(?) Did a battle, and all you are missing are the seige, but that was a while back, so maybe you guys are further...Well, one thing is being able to play a game, and another is everything is working as supposed and every feature implemented. It's not only the siege, though that's one of the few battle related things left, but things like animal AI, better pathfinding, less bugs =) and so on are still left. So while we're starting to test multiplayer that doesn't mean that it's near a release anytime soon.
Aeros
Alex, what are you talking about?? That has nothing to do with anything discussed anywhere in this topic. If you don't know what we are talking about but continue posting replies I'm willing to mark your posts as spam. Apomonomenos
I said that because it would be part of a movie, to show units in battle, and how far you are in game to show another movie. And Hence the time, it was pretty late at were I was, and I was very tired.
