Interesting.
I can't really comment about Age of Wonders, as I have only played it once. The turn-based strategy system didn't appeal to me very much. I have, however, played Wesnoth several times.
Do you know whether TLA will focus on massive military (such as the armies in Battle for Middle-earth) or micro-managing (such as the small armies in Warcraft III and War of the Ring)?

I thought I'd just stop by to say hi to 0ad from TLA. Well... hi!
-
Yay! A post! I was beginning to lose hope...
I'm going to see it in on the 16th (premier).
Do you think that Wildfire Games will make any more projects after TLA and 0ad? I hope so... valuable experience for later life, and all that. Do you think they'll make a Narnian RTS?
-
So do I. Only 12 days to go (where I live)!
-
Narnia isn't that detailed.
Unfortunately, the way movie-making works these days is:
1. Find a well-known book.
2. Write your own script using the character names, places and creatures.
3. Produce it under the book's title.
These days, Movie-makers only care about effetcs.

Speaking of which, why aren't you part of the team? Look at the facts:
a) You're 1 of the 4 people who come here very regularly
You know a large amount of Tolkienlore
c) You're enthusiastic, and don't enjoy hiatus
TLA wants YOU!

I know. I was using that as an absurd example. Are the four of us (Beren included) the only ones left at TLA?

I was wondering, how will Dol Amroth fit in?
I see no mention of it as an Independant race, so I suppose it will make up a part of the Realms in Exile.
However, Dol Amroth, tough fitting under his category, seemed rather independant from Gondor, so I find it strange that they should be merged together. A comparison for me would be merging the Aztecs, Mayans and Incans, all very different, into one civilization named South America.
Perhaps somebody can spread some light upon this?
Also, I was wondering whether there was a chance of being able to post things not directly Tolkien-related, but rather more distantly. For example, I have wanted to discuss certain points about CS. Lewis' Narnia with the TLA forumers.

I have the 4th one as my desktop wallpaper. The colours are slightly different, though.

Yes. Think of it in terms of a fishtank (crude, I know). You buy the tank, fill it with water and pebbles, and put the fish in. You are able to see everything that goes on in the tank, all at the same time. Yahweh/Jehova created the universe, so surely he can watch over it just as easily? He created time, so surely he is free from its limitations. Time and place are his servants, not his masters.

You could be right about the Orcs. Perhaps they're like trees - The older they get, the thicker (in the Orcs' case fatter) they become. I would agree with your statement on Orc reproduction; we could even go as far as to assume that this is one of the reasons the Orcs elf-napped Celebrian (to assault her).
On Hobbits: We can hardly expect the Professor to have taken into account the smoking of tobacco as a threat to human/hobbit life. In his day, smoking was still considered to be healthy, or at least to have no effect on a person's health.

Ah. I thought, perhaps, that you might use the search-tool on Amazon which enables you to look up words in books

At last! Some action!
*Bows to Ceasar*
Do we have any idea how long the average Orc lives (ignoring the fact that most of them die in battle)?
Ceasar: When did you get your current position? Do you still visit AoKH?
-
Interestingly enough, the Hobbits seem to be a bit of an exception. We know that they averagely lived about 20 years longer than men, and yet they produce much more children than men. Of course, this is probably due to the fact that the Shire is so prosperous, and haven't fought in any wars for decades.
In the real world, their life-spans would probably be shorter (at least the male Hobbits), due to their large consumption of tobacco and alcohol . However, as has been pointed out, Middle-earth is a fantasy realm.
I realise that this doesn't really flow with the conversation, but someone's got to keep the forums active!

Once again, Beren never ceases to impress me. How do you remember details like that (in reference to Beorn)?
-
Beren has a point on his fourth statement.
The use of special powers leads one toward arrogance and, thus, corruption.
Yes, just like Gerge Bush!!

I myself thought that the Dwarven structures resembled those of Red Alert, one of EA's earliest games.

Brilliant! I wish I was that talented... I can't even draw a good stick figure
-
Ooh! Nice screen!
Morning's Wrath looks great!

I think that Tolkien was trying to imply that they weren't really part of our world, that the spirits seen by the trio were just shadows of the real thing.
Peter Jackson's looked solid enough to touch. It was his birthday yesterday, BTW.
Welcome to the forums, Eldacar! Enjoy your stay!

Tolkien did mention that Orcs breed like rats.

Cool! Do we have a release date yet?
